“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 (NIV)

You may be surprised to learn that it’s not Christian bumper stickers, T-shirts, or social media posts that draw people to Jesus. It’s how you live and work every single day. One of the greatest tools for evangelism in this generation isn’t a microphone or a platform, but a life of excellence. When you consistently do what is expected and then some, people take notice. They see something different in you, and that difference points them to Christ.

Rebekah in Genesis 24 showed us what that looks like. When asked for water, she not only gave the servant a drink but watered all ten of his camels, too. She didn’t know she was being watched. She didn’t do it for recognition or reward. She did it because excellence was her nature. That’s what an “and then some” believer looks like—someone who goes beyond the minimum because they serve a God of abundance.

Your workplace is one of the most powerful mission fields you’ll ever step into.

People are watching how you work, how you respond under pressure, and how you treat others. Jesus said to let your light shine before men so they see your good works and glorify your Father. That means your work ethic can preach louder than your words. You don’t need to quote verses at your coworkers; you just need to show up on time, give your best, and go the extra mile. That’s what makes people say, “There’s something different about them.”

The truth is, laziness and mediocrity can destroy your witness. If you cut corners, show up late, or give half effort, people won’t care what you believe. But when you bring excellence into everything you do—when you stay late to finish the job, when you serve others without being asked, when you clean up what isn’t “your responsibility” you earn respect. And that respect becomes a platform to share your faith.

When you’re the top performer, the most reliable teammate, or the person everyone trusts, people want to know your secret. And that’s when you can say, “It’s the Lord who gives me strength.” That’s the moment when your testimony shines the brightest.

Choose today to live as an “and then some” witness. Let your faith be seen in your work, your attitude, and your integrity. Do what’s expected—and then some—for the glory of God.

Prayer: Lord, help me to represent You with excellence in everything I do. Teach me to go beyond what’s expected, to work as unto You, and to let my actions speak of Your goodness. Let my life be a living testimony that draws others to You. Amen.
