    Reading Time: 5 minutes

On November 4, 2025, the Democrats won big. Nationwide, believers felt a collective grief over what this means for their states, the nation, and future elections. While the November elections have come and gone, the battle is far from over. Intercessors in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and California are looking to the Lord and continuing to stand in the gap for their states. The statistics have come out, and here is what we know and, more importantly, how to pray about it.

Do you want state prayer alerts?

First, let’s take a look back at last year’s elections and see how they differ. In the Circle online publication, it was the youth who made the difference in the  2024 Presidential election. The publication says ‘youth,’ but the age groups refer to Gen Z and Millennials. That’s right, our young people were a huge driving force behind the 2024 elections — specifically, young men, voting republican or conservative. Their concerns were the economy and inflation. Younger Latinos also prioritized the economy. In contrast, more young women voted for Democrats.

Women Made the Difference in 2025

The 2025 elections saw a democratic socialist elected Mayor of New York, along with other major losses. While younger voters once again showed up, the statistics released so far indicate that young women were the difference-makers in 2025. Both Forbes and Vogue declared this a massive win for Democratic women and said they are a key to future success. 80% of the voters for Mamdani were young voters, mainly Gen Z, and 84% of the total vote was cast by young women, according to Circle. Most women under 30 also voted Democrat in New Jersey and Virginia. Young people in California were also the strongest supporters and voters in favor of Proposition 50.

The votes were cast in Virginia and New Jersey, both of which had 60% of women, while men made up the remaining 40%. Women voted for reproductive rights and gender equality. LGBTQ and immigration policies were also responsible for the Democratic wins. Young people are showing up to vote, and that is something to thank God for, but they are voting with social justice on their minds, and they are voting for anti-biblical values.  The younger generations need our prayers.

First things first, our young people need Jesus. Without Him at the center, nothing else will matter or make sense to them.

But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters] (1 Corinthians 2:14 AMP)

    • Pray for the salvation of our youth and young adults, both men and women.

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

    • Pray for an unveiling of truth and for spiritual blindness to be broken off of them.

A majority of young women voted against life, and they ironically voted for women who are mothers themselves, yet vowed to protect “reproductive rights.”

And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart (Ezekiel 36:26 NLT).

    • Pray for a generation of young women who will advocate for life.
    • Pray for hearts of stone in women to become hearts of flesh, Lord, give them a mother’s heart.

Young women and men voted for social justice rather than biblical justice. While both care for the oppressed, biblical justice is centered around God’s true definition of justice, where there is no impartiality or human agenda. It is centered around His nature, His holiness, and righteousness, and not man’s.

The LORD executes righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known His ways [of righteousness and justice] to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel (Psalm 103:6-7 AMP).

    • Pray that young people will be taught to know and understand God’s ways and vote accordingly.

The battleground for our young people’s souls begins with their education.

Now that we know how millennials and Gen Z are voting, we must continue to intercede. It is becoming increasingly apparent that our schools and college campuses are focusing less on education and more on indoctrination. Because they are being told that Marxism and Socialism will be the answer to America’s economic problems, they are voting that way. Because feminism thrives and “gender equality” is pushed in schools and colleges, young women vote in favor. Because life is not valued in the womb, but taught as a “right,” women vote to protect that right. It is a battle for the truth.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:32).

    • Pray for teachers, professors, and those who influence our young people.
    • Pray that lying lips will be silenced. False doctrines, misinformation, and propaganda will be exposed and cut off.
    • Pray and vote in your local elections. What happens in our schools is due to who is elected to the school board, city council, and other positions.

While these elections were a victory for young women, we can thank God that young people are seeing the value of making their voice heard by showing up to vote. While they are not voting as we would have hoped, the point is they are showing up. Men were outnumbered, and let’s not forget the astounding number of Christians who do not vote at all.

    • Pray for men to rise and lead the way. Men are called by God to be leaders, and when they sit back and let women lead, it is out of alignment with God’s will.
    • Pray for Christians to wake up and show up at the polls.

Gen Alpha will be voting soon. How will they be influenced to vote? Will they be voting in alignment with biblical truth, voting their feelings, or will they be like many Christians and not vote at all? Who will influence them, the world or the church?

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16)

    • Pray for believers, mothers, fathers, siblings, and Christians to seriously disciple these younger generations and instruct them in the ways of God.

Despite the results of these votes among young women and men, let’s not forget that they are experiencing revival. There is a war for the children, youth, and young adults happening right now.  This young generation was prophesied to be a part of a third great awakening. Could this be the reason for the warfare?

For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children. They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank (Isaiah 44:3-4)

    • Pray for a continued outpouring of God’s Spirit on our young people in schools and college campuses.

How are you praying for young women and men? Share your thoughts in the comments.
