WASHINGTON, D.C. – The longest U.S. government shutdown in history came to an end last night. But the bitter divide between Republicans and Democrats remains as the two sides face a looming fight over Obamacare subsidies. And even as the shutdown was winding down, Democrats launched a new battle over President Trump and the Epstein files.

On Wednesday night in the Oval Office, surrounded by Republican Congressional members, President Trump signed the new temporary government funding bill, bringing an end to the 43-day government shutdown.

The President declared, “So with my signature, the federal government will now resume normal operations, and my administration and our partners in Congress will continue our work to lower the cost of living, restore public safety, grow our economy, and make America affordable again.”

Partisan divisions fueled the longest government shutdown in America’s history, causing a lot of pain for the American people. Federal workers went without paychecks, and some had to stand in long lines to get food.

It also disrupted Supplemental Nutritional Aid (SNAP) for more than 40 million people and forced a reduction in air travel, stranding thousands of passengers. The President blamed the majority of Democrats.

“Republicans never wanted a shutdown and voted 15 times for a clean continuation of funding. I want to also thank the eight Senate Democrats who finally did the right thing in voting to end this craziness, this madness,” Trump said.

Democrats vow to keep fighting to extend Obamacare subsidies to maintain affordable health care insurance plans for millions of Americans.

“We’re going to continue that fight to fix our broken health care system and lower the high cost of living for the American people,” said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

Meanwhile, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee are fighting to release the Jeffrey Epstein files. On Wednesday, they released three emails from Epstein that claimed Donald Trump “knew about the girls.” In another email, Epstein told his former girlfriend Ghislane Maxwell that Trump spent some time with a person whom Democrats claim was a victim.

The President has denied any wrongdoing. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that President Trump had kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago because he was a “pedophile and a creep.”

She said Democrats are conducting a smear campaign against the President and a distraction for their failure on the government shutdown.
