"Although the fig tree shall not blossom… yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places." Habakkuk 3:17-19
Habakkuk’s burdens didn’t stop with silence. The sin and corruption surrounding Israel weighed heavily on him. He saw injustice, idolatry, and immorality everywhere, and it could have crushed him. But instead of despairing, Habakkuk chose praise. He understood that God was still on His throne, working even when life seemed chaotic.
You may feel sifted by trials, shaken until it seems all the good in your life is gone. Peter faced that too when he was warned that Satan desired to sift him like wheat. Yet even in sifting, God is faithful. Hard times are tests, preparing us for the best He has planned. Problems grow faith; they don’t destroy it.
Habakkuk models a life of faith in the midst of struggle. He could have stayed in despair, but he praised God anyway. Even when the fig trees didn’t blossom, when the harvest failed, and everything seemed lost, he declared joy in the Lord.
Praise is not about circumstances. It’s about trusting God’s presence and power in the midst of them.
Your hard season may feel like everything is against you, but God is for you. There are blessings tied up in your trials, treasures hidden in the struggle. Read His Word, hold onto His promises, and choose praise. Faith grows when you lift your eyes from your problem and fix them on God.
Remember this: the end of the story is better than the beginning. Your sighs will turn to shouts. Your problems will reveal God’s faithfulness. Habakkuk started with burdens but ended with a song. You can too. Stand firm, praise Him in the fire, and walk into the high places God has prepared for you.
Prayer: Lord, help me to praise You even when my world feels broken. Teach me to see the blessings hidden in my trials and trust that You are working all things for my good. Strengthen my faith so I can rejoice in You, even when life is hard. Let my heart find joy in Your presence and my feet walk confidently toward the high places You have prepared for me. Amen.
