Out of all the executive orders signed in President Trump’s second term so far, the order ending birthright citizenship may be the most controversial. On Friday, however, the Supreme Court agreed to decide whether the action is legal or not.

Upon re-entering the White House, Trump signed an executive order to prevent the children of illegal immigrants or foreigners with temporary visas from receiving citizenship upon birth.
It quickly faced a slew of lawsuits arguing that the order violated the 14th Amendment, which affords citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil regardless of their parents’ immigration status.
The high court is now expected to decide in late June or early July on the longtime interpretation of the 14th Amendment, according to The New York Times.
This past June, the Supreme Court allowed the President to move forward with his plan to end birthright citizenship in some states. However, the judges didn’t address the constitutionality of the action itself, focusing instead on whether lower courts should be allowed to issue nationwide injunctions.
If the high court agrees with the President’s interpretation of the 14th amendment, it would radically change immigration and the very culture of our nation. It could also impact our future elections, and potentially even change the racial demographics of our nation by removing the anchor baby incentive for immigration.
As the justices consider how to rule on this case, let’s pray they would rule wisely and look to the Lord for guidance.
