“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14

This Christmas, I want you to think about the stars in your life. I don’t mean the stars in the sky, but the people God has placed in your path—people who were so close to the Son that His light shone through them and guided you to Jesus. Maybe it was a parent, a grandparent, a Sunday school teacher, a friend, or even a spouse. Someone who lived their faith in such a real, visible way that you couldn’t help but notice.

These stars didn’t shine by chance. They were close to the Son, and because of that, their lives reflected His light. They became travel guides for your heart, pointing you toward the Savior. Without them, you might never have found Jesus. You might not be here today, reading this, experiencing His love, peace, and salvation.

I think about my brother Richie, who is now in Heaven, and how God used him as a star in my life during a season when I had completely walked away from the Lord. I was cold-hearted, running with the wrong crowd, and far from God. One Sunday afternoon after church, we were eating lunch, and someone asked where Richie was. They said he was not eating that day because he was fasting. I later learned he was fasting and praying for me. That night, I went to church only because I had to. I sat in the back row, just doing my time, with no desire to be there at all. Then Richie stood up and began to sing, “At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light.” In that moment, something broke inside me. The hardness in my heart began to melt. I could not sit there any longer. I stood up, walked down the aisle, dropped to my knees without anyone calling me forward, lifted my hands, and cried out, “Jesus, save me.” I may have never found Jesus if my brother had not been willing to shine like a star in my life and guide me back to Him.

Think about it for a moment. Who reached out to you when nobody else cared? Who showed patience when you were stubborn? Who prayed for you in secret, never giving up on you? That’s a star. That’s a light that led you to Jesus. And God wants to do the same through you.

You can be that light for someone else—a child, a spouse, a friend, a neighbor. It’s not about grand gestures or perfect words. It’s about showing love, offering forgiveness, praying faithfully, and living a life close enough to the Son that His light shines through you.

Christmas reminds us that God came as the ultimate light to guide the world to Himself. And He wants to use you as a star this season. Shine bright.

Let someone follow the light in your life straight to Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the stars You’ve placed in my life to guide me to You. Help me to shine Your light so brightly that others can find You through me. Use my words, my actions, and my faith to guide someone toward Jesus this Christmas. May my life reflect the Son, and may Your light never dim in me. Amen.
