I’m so excited to study through the book of Colossians with you! Colossians is a letter written by the apostle Paul to the church at Colossae, encouraging them to address temptations to compromise in their faith and calling them to even greater devotion to Jesus.
Colossians chapter 1 gets right into it, giving us a poem depicting who Jesus is and what He has done – and what He continues to do. Jesus is the author of creation, and the one who is bringing about new creation through His finished work on the cross and resurrection from the dead. It covers the important aspect of evangelism that’s easy to miss, the preeminence of Jesus, and how believers often experience affliction in ministry just as Jesus experienced affliction in His.
