Yesterday, anti-ICE sentiment in Minneapolis evolved into a far more sinister, palpable rage. During an anti-ICE demonstration, a violent protester tried to kill a federal law enforcement officer in what the DHS is calling “an act of domestic terrorism.”
Join others crying out to the Lord day and night.
From the Daily Wire:
A “violent” agitator attempted to run over federal immigration agents in Minneapolis on Wednesday before she was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, the Department of Homeland Security said.
The streets of Minneapolis descended into chaos as anti-ICE demonstrators attempted to block federal authorities from conducting immigration raids in the area. One of the protesters then allegedly “weaponized her vehicle” and tried to plow over agents with her car “in an attempt to kill them,” DHS said.
An ICE officer, who was “fearing for his life,” fired “defensive shots” at the female agitator, who succumbed to her injuries, according to the agency. One federal law enforcement source told The Daily Wire that the woman took a bullet to the face.
The incident reportedly left some officers injured, but all are expected to make a full recovery.
Video footage from of the incident shows multiple ICE officers attempt to arrest the woman. The woman then reversed her car before accelerating into an officer, who fired multiple shots into the vehicle. The DHS labeled the incident “an act of domestic terrorism.” The department blamed the rise of anti-ICE sentiment and rhetoric across the country, stating, “This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement.” And, speaking of sanctuary politicians, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey responded to the incident by calling on ICE to “leave the city immediately,” accusing the officers of “causing chaos” in Minneapolis.
As attacks against ICE continue, unfortunate incidents like these will only become more common. Let’s pray that the people of America would work with and support ICE, not attack its officers.
