“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.” Micah 7:8 (NKJV)

Samson shows you the high cost of laying your head in the wrong place. He did not lose his strength in a battle. He lost it in a lap. His hair was not gently trimmed. It was shaved. A covenant was broken. A vow was violated. As long as those seven locks remained, the power of God rested on his life. But when he laid down and let a deceiver get close, the enemy took him all the way down.

When Samson woke up, the chains felt familiar. He had broken chains before. He expected this moment to be just like the others. But this time, something was different. The strength was gone. The victory was gone. And suddenly, the enemy was no longer running. They bound him. They blinded him. And then they bewildered him.

That is always the enemy’s order. First, he binds you so you lose your liberty. Then he blinds you so you lose your vision. Then he bewilders you so you go in circles, grinding, surviving, feeding the very things that once tried to destroy you. You are busy, but you are not free. Moving, but not going anywhere. Alive, but not really living. And if you are honest, some of you feel that way right now. You may be bound by habits or fear. You could be blinded by disappointment or bewildered by confusion about what direction to take next. You did not plan to end up here. But here you are.

Here is the turning point. Samson refused to die in defeat. Somewhere in the darkness, something rose up inside him. A prayer that did not sound fancy. Just desperate. God, touch me one more time. That is the heart of grace. God is not just the God of a second chance. He is the God of another chance. And another. And another. Scripture says the righteous fall again and again, but they keep getting back up. Not because they are strong, but because God is faithful.

Samson could not win alone anymore. He asked for help. A lad took him by the hand and positioned him. And when the enemy gathered to mock him, when they laughed and celebrated too soon, Samson prayed. And God answered.

The devil should have left you alone because Micah was right. When you fall, you will arise. When you sit in darkness, the Lord will be your light.

Prayer: Lord, I have been down, but I refuse to stay defeated. Where I have been bound, free me. Where I have been blinded, restore my vision. Where I have been bewildered, lead me again. Touch me one more time. I trust You to lift me, strengthen me, and restore what the enemy thought was lost. Amen.
