What’s the biblical definition of marriage?

🎙️ THE ANSWER:
Well, the Bible is not Webster’s dictionary, so it doesn’t give us a definition of marriage, but we do see the model of marriage, the God -given model in Genesis 1 and 2, where we see God creates Adam and he creates a helper for him, a woman. So we see God instituting marriage as between one man and one woman, and that’s the ideal that’s set up throughout Scripture. Not that we would add other people into the picture, into the relationship, or that the relationship would be broken. You know, the idea is that once these two get together, Jesus says this and it says it in Genesis 2, “The two shall become one flesh.” So the idea is two individuals join their lives together, become a new unit, a new family, and nothing should be able to pull them apart. And that’s the God-given definition and the God -given Biblical view of marriage.
