Thanks to America’s Spiritual Heritage Project, more and more state leaders are stepping up and rededicating their states to the Lord. On March 11, 2026, South Carolina boldly joined the ranks of states that are turning their faces to the Lord. With every proclamation state by state, intercessors and elected officials are uniting for the greatest purpose of all, to recount the Lord’s faithfulness, reclaim the promises, and rededicate each state to the Lord. IFA’s South Carolina State Leader, Mark Johnson, shared the encouraging story and the events leading up to the rededication.

“IFA South Carolina and other groups have been praying for revival and awakening for some time. We asked the Lord, beginning in 2023, to raise up evangelists so that the people would be able to hear from the Lord. God answered last year when Jacob Ebersole of World Harvest was connected with some IFA intercessors. I was introduced to Jacob at the South Carolina Gatekeepers Conference in 2024 through a group that was interceding for him,” Mark said.

After Spartanburg, I connected him with intercessors in Columbia, where another crusade was held.  Some of these connections are people who pray with IFA SC, and some are intercessors in groups other than IFA SC.”

“In January 2026, the Lord gave South Carolina a specific prayer strategy.  IFA SC sent intercessors to each county courthouse to pray and rededicate the courthouses back to the Lord. They have been doing this faithfully, and by June 2026, they will have rededicated all forty-three of them. “As we have prayed in our state group, we made sure to include these counties in our weekly prayer calls and pray for them by name. We also implemented the American Spiritual Heritage Project website to help identify things that we could pray for our state. But the Lord had given us the same idea about rededicating before ASHP was launched. It confirmed that what God was asking us to do was more than just a vision for our state; it was a vision for our nation,” Mark said.

“Dee McGinnis, a member of IFA South Carolina’s State Prayer Group, connected with Representative Mark Smith in Charleston and then with Evangelist Jacob Ebersole. Dee was exposed to Pray America and knew about the IFA initiative to rededicate the nation, and is routinely on South Carolina prayer calls. She has been instrumental in the planning and connecting. Jacob held an “all leaders” meeting for the upcoming crusade in Charleston. Rep. Mark Smith was not only present but also offered, in that meeting, to introduce a joint resolution commending the Crusade and urging citizens to rededicate their lives to Christ.”

“When a date for the proclamation of this resolution was announced, IFA SC determined to bring as many as would come and then go into the State House to rededicate South Carolina to Jesus Christ. The proclamation event and agenda were driven by Rep. Smith and his staff, including Dee. The Representative was as bold as can be in proclaiming the resolution and that prayer was essential! Jacob Ebersole then spoke briefly and prayed for the state. TPUSA representative Renata Dasilva spoke briefly, and Dee closed with prayer.

More than 100 people attended this event. It was recorded on the steps of the State House for press release purposes and is now being circulated throughout the state. There can be no doubt that the House and Senate voted for revival in South Carolina. The intentions of the planners were that South Carolina would be the first state to be rededicated to Christ in advance of the President’s May 17th planned rededication of the nation to Christ.”
Intercessors gather on the steps of South Carolina’s capitol.

After the outdoor proclamation event, those who wanted to pray over the state with IFA went indoors to pray and commit the state to Christ. Our first planned location was occupied by another group, so most of us went upstairs to the main lobby outside the House and Senate chambers to pray. Later, another group prayed in the lobby below us. Every place in that State House was being saturated in the prayers of God’s people.”

“Prior to the event on March 11, 2026, we sought the Lord about how to pray for South Carolina. Someone had seen a vision of the state on the map, but it was alive and breathing. We believed the Lord was saying that He created the state to breathe and produce life. There were images of the marshlands beside the coast and coastal waters as breeding grounds teeming with new life. Likewise, the tidal flows (in and out) were like breathing. This was God’s original intention for our state and across the nation. However, mankind, through sin of all kinds, had bound the state and restricted its breathing.”

“I shared this image with everyone during the upstairs prayer time, and we began praying about it. At least ten intercessors got similar or complementary words, images, songs, and ideas. One intercessor specifically noted that the swamps in South Carolina were designed as filters to capture what needed to be removed. Some received words like “resuscitate,” and we prayed in agreement that God would breathe His life into South Carolina and her people. We specifically cut the bonds of sin, restricting the state and declaring freedom. This prayer time went on for quite a while.”

At the very end, Mark shared that South Carolina was not a colony founded on religion, unlike Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, and New Hampshire. Virginia, while also grounded in economics, had a homogeneous group of settlers initially, from a religious perspective. South Carolina was the first colony established after the English Civil Wars and, as such, had Anglicans, Dissenters, and, because of the religious freedoms offered, Huguenots and later Jews.

No initial commitment of the colony to the Lord is recorded. However, the principles upon which the Lord Proprietors acted (Lord Ashley) clearly stood on Christian ground, especially with the promotion of religious freedom. In addition, the establishment of Jamestown as the first landing site, the arrival of the 1607 group, and the commitment made in Robert Hunt’s first recorded English prayer clearly count as commitments.

“As we came today to dedicate South Carolina to Christ, we remember that it has always been His. We are merely reconfessing the truth that has always existed. Finally, we declared the Word of God over our state, continued for more prayer, and rededicated South Carolina to the Lord. After all of this, we went back downstairs to meet with the remnant of the outside group who had come into the State House to pray as well. A gentleman, who turned out to be a new legislator, tracked me down to say “thank you “to IFA South Carolina for being there.

    Prayer Shifts the Atmosphere

“The spiritual atmosphere was neutral when we first arrived. We have prayed at the State House many times, Mark said. The atmosphere began to shift when we went inside the statehouse and prayed in the lobby between the House and Senate chambers. That’s when people were receiving visions. It was a small group, about twenty-five people, but it was a very intense and intentional time of prayer.

“After we finish praying at the county courthouses, we will support the crusade in Charleston. We also have a Policy-and-Prayer event planned for August. At this point, we are waiting to see God move in our state and bring revival. God is already raising up righteous leadership in our government. There are several people who are very godly, and they are being thrust into positions of leadership. Which is, of course, what we have been praying for. Our primaries are in June. That determines who the Governor and LT Governor will be. These primaries are a decision point. We don’t know who God will put. But we will continue to build a network, build content, and pray for our leaders. We are expectant to see what God does as a result of our obedience,” Mark said.

Father, we thank You for how You are working in the state of South Carolina. Thank you for leaders like Representative Mark Smith, who recognize the importance of prayers and proclamation. We thank you for another state that is making a declaration in the face of warfare and distractions, boldly saying, “We belong to the Lord.”

Lord, raise up men and women of God in our government across the nation who recognize our need for prayer as a nation. We pray for leaders who are as bold as a lion who will proclaim their states for the Lord. We pray for the states holding primaries, and we contend for the righteous to be in authority. Lord, we pray that spiritual and governmental leaders will unite to lift your name over America, and as we lift the name of Jesus. All men will be drawn unto Him, just as your Word says, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Will you be a part of America’s rededication to the Lord?
