The book of Joshua confronts us with a challenging reality: God not only allowed but commanded Israel’s conquest of Canaan. These military campaigns, carried out in His name and by His power, raise profound and uncomfortable questions. How do we reconcile a God who leads battles with the God we know as loving, merciful, and just? Can divine love and holy war coexist without compromising the truth of Scripture? This week and next, we’ll courageously explore these difficult tensions and seek a deeper understanding of God’s character through the lens of Israel’s conquest.
