From Daily Caller:
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Monday that sanctuary cities could face significant consequences if they refuse to enforce federal immigration laws.
Speaking on “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Mullin suggested that cities unwilling to cooperate with federal authorities might lose access to critical federal functions, including processing international flights.
Mullin said he believes sanctuary city policies are unlawful and indicated that federal lawmakers might examine the issue.
Secretary Mullin’s comments highlight a growing divide over immigration enforcement and the responsibility of local governments to uphold federal law. Sanctuary city policies, which limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities, have long been a point of contention, especially as concerns about border security and illegal immigration remain high.
As IFA intercessors know, the issue of immigration is not just political—it touches on law, order, and the protection of communities. When laws are selectively enforced or ignored, it can erode trust in government and create confusion about authority and accountability.
The suggestion that sanctuary cities could lose access to federal privileges, such as processing international flights, signals a potential shift in how the federal government approaches enforcement. It also reflects broader frustration among leaders who believe cooperation is essential to maintaining national security and upholding the rule of law.
For intercessors, this moment is a call to pray for wisdom and unity among leaders at every level of government. Let’s pray that policies would reflect truth and justice, that communities would be protected, and that those in authority would work together to uphold what is right.
