"And I, the Lord, have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians…" Exodus 3:8 (KJV)

Have you ever felt like you’re just minding your own business, doing the ordinary, when suddenly life throws something extraordinary at you? That was Moses. He was in early retirement, tending his father-in-law’s sheep in the desert, when God chose a most unusual way to get his attention—a bush on fire that wasn’t consumed. And then, as if that weren’t enough, the bush started talking.

Now, most of us imagine Moses as some superhuman figure who faced God with courage and boldness right away. But the truth? He probably freaked out. He ran, he hesitated, he questioned. And God, in His perfect sense of timing and humor, was ready. That bush was no ordinary bush. It was a Butane Bush, burning with the supernatural power of God. It was designed to stop Moses in his tracks and command his attention.

Something we must all learn is that when God gets your attention, pay attention. That burning bush wasn’t about spectacle; it was about purpose. When God puts a fire in your heart for someone, when He nudges you to pray, to step in, or to act, don't ignore it. That’s your personal burning bush. That’s God saying, “I’ve seen the misery, I’ve heard the cries, and I am coming down to deliver.”

Moses had witnessed slavery, injustice, and suffering. He had tried to intervene before, failed, and gone into hiding. And yet, God showed up. Not in a plan Moses expected. Not in a way he felt prepared for. But God showed up with a mission: “Go, I will send you to deliver My people.”

Sometimes, we feel inadequate. Wimpy. Unready. But God doesn’t call the perfect; He calls the available. When He calls you to act, pray, or to speak life, don’t make excuses. Step onto the holy ground of your calling. Take off the sandals of hesitation and fear, and step into the fire God has prepared—not to consume you, but to empower you.

Your “bush” may look strange, your calling may feel overwhelming, but God’s presence transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary opportunities. If He could use Moses, He can use you.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeing my struggles and hearing my cries. Help me notice the burning bushes You place in my life. Help me recognize those nudges, prompts, and divine interruptions. Give me courage to step onto Your holy ground, to leave excuses behind, and to act in faith. Empower me with Your presence to fulfill the calling You have for me. Let Your fire not consume me, but transform me, that I may be a vessel of Your deliverance and blessing. Amen.
