Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer is stepping down from her role in the Trump administration amid a broader shakeup within the Department of Labor. From the Daily Caller:
“Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will be leaving the Administration to take a position in the private sector. She has done a phenomenal job in her role by protecting American workers, enacting fair labor practices, and helping Americans gain additional skills to improve their lives,” Cheung wrote.
He further noted that Deputy Sec. of Labor Keith Sonderling will take on the role as acting secretary following Chavez-DeRemer’s departure.
According to reporting from the Daily Caller, Chavez-DeRemer’s exit follows an internal investigation into inappropriate conduct among certain staffers, which contributed to a wave of departures within the Department of Labor. While details remain limited, the situation has fueled concerns about internal culture and accountability at a time when the agency plays a critical role in shaping workforce policy and protecting American laborers.
Chavez-DeRemer, a former congresswoman from Oregon, was seen as a somewhat unconventional pick for labor secretary, drawing scrutiny from some conservatives earlier in the year. Despite this, the administration publicly praised her efforts to champion worker protections and expand opportunities for skills development. Her departure now leaves a leadership gap that Acting Secretary Keith Sonderling will temporarily fill.
This development underscores the importance of integrity and strong leadership within our federal institutions. As intercessors, we know that those entrusted with authority must be held to a higher standard, and moments like this remind us to pray for righteousness and accountability in every level of government.
Let’s continue to pray for our leaders—and share this article to keep others informed.
