“Lift up your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward, for all the land which you see I will give to you and your descendants forever.” Genesis 13:14-15 (NKJV)
God speaks to our faith through vision. Walking in vision requires seeing beyond present circumstances. Often, what God shows us doesn’t match what we see in our lives today. Your finances may be tight, your career uncertain, or your family struggling. These present conditions are obstacles, but they are not your limit. God tells us to write the vision down—to record His promises so that when reality pressures you, you can remember what He said. Faith does not live in what is; it lives in what God has promised.
Another obstacle is present resources. God doesn’t give the vision and the provision at the same time. Provision comes after the vision. You may feel under-equipped, unprepared, or under-resourced, but God provides as you move forward. Big visions attract the resources you need. Faith grows like a muscle: the more you exercise it, the more courage you develop to act on what God has shown you.
But perhaps the greatest obstacle is your present self. God will stretch you into the person capable of handling the vision. Abraham started as Abram but became “Abraham, father of many.” Jacob started as Jacob, which meant “a man of deceit,” but by walking with God, he became “Israel, a prince with God.” Likewise, the vision God gives you will shape your future self. You may feel incapable, weak, or unprepared today, but as you walk in the vision, God is creating a stronger, wiser, more capable version of you.
Don’t let your present self talk you out of your future self.
Vision requires patience. You must walk it out daily, even when it feels slow. God calls us to take small, consistent steps in the direction of His promises. Walking may feel ordinary or even tedious, but it is in the walking that the vision becomes reality. Present circumstances, limited resources, and your current abilities cannot stop God. Step out. Keep moving. Keep believing.
God’s vision for your life is bigger than your present reality. See it. Record it. Walk in it. Trust Him for provision and transformation. Step by step, your future self will emerge, equipped and strengthened to receive all God has promised.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the vision You have placed in my heart. Help me to see beyond my present circumstances and trust Your promises. Give me faith to walk step by step, even when the way seems slow or uncertain. Strengthen me to overcome fear, lack, and doubt, and shape me into the person capable of handling the vision You’ve given. Teach me to keep my eyes on You, to move in obedience, and to trust that You will provide everything I need. I choose to believe that my future self, created by You, will walk in all the fullness of Your plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
