From the Daily Wire:
Concerns are mounting over the status of Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ), as fellow Republicans on Capitol Hill say they have not heard from him recently.
The congressman has not been around for roughly 50 roll votes beginning March 5, according to Politico.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) told NJ Spotlight News, “Nobody’s covering up. We just haven’t heard a word,” and Rep. Chris Smith said, “We’ve both reached out. Don’t know.”
Kean’s office has indicated that he is dealing with a personal health matter and is expected to return, but the lack of communication has stirred concern among colleagues. In a closely divided House, prolonged absences can shift the balance of power and complicate legislative efforts. His district, already considered highly competitive, adds another layer of political uncertainty as questions linger about his availability and future participation.
This situation is unfolding amid broader turmoil in the House of Representatives. Recent resignations, scandals, and even the death of a sitting member have created an atmosphere of instability, leaving leadership with little margin for error. With only a narrow Republican majority, every vote carries weight, and unexpected absences can have outsized consequences on key decisions facing the nation.
Scripture calls us to pray for those in leadership—not only for their decisions, but for their well-being, strength, and ability to serve faithfully. Let this moment prompt us to lift up our leaders in prayer, asking God to bring healing, stability, and righteous leadership during a time of uncertainty.
Pray for Rep. Kean and for stability in Congress—and share this with fellow intercessors.
