There is a momentum gaining force in America. Many states are partnering with IFA’s American Spiritual Heritage Project and rededicating their states to the Lord. “America Reads the Bible” kicked off on April 19th and will continue through the 25th at the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC. The spiritual battle between light and darkness is ongoing, but state leaders and intercessors are partnering to see God’s will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. IFA’s Minnesota Co-State Leaders Jim and Heather Lorch shared how God has been at work and how we can partner in prayer.
Post a prayer for your state!
Like all states, Minnesota is seeing God move in its government, but know that they have a long stretch ahead, as much work remains. “The spiritual atmosphere here is filled with faith and hope. We, legislators and intercessors, are contending and determined to continue to fight for Minnesota and our Nation for the Lord,” Heather said. Heather has always been passionate about governmental intercession. She has been actively involved at the grassroots in Minnesota, advocating for God’s influence in government for over twenty years, and has been part of the leadership at different levels of the Minnesota Republican Party.
“I learned that many believers were concerned about the political climate here, but didn’t think they could make a difference. I felt led to be an advocate for believers because many didn’t know how to effect change in the government. I stepped into leadership to create a space for believers to become involved in the local political process. Along the way, Jim and I have made some great friends and mentors who are still on the front lines as believers in politics and government. We are grateful to know many legislative champions fighting for righteousness down at the Capitol, on local city councils, county boards, and school boards. Since becoming State leaders for IFA, we have been invited to join the Minnesota Government Prayer Alliance, a group of over ten ministry leaders with a unique call to influence the MN government for the Lord. We have been blessed to know some of these leaders for well over ten years. We support and encourage each other,” she said.
Learning about IFA during the pandemic was an answer to prayer for Jim and Heather, and they have been involved with the ministry since then. Jim and Heather became State Leaders last September, and have been busy, with Jim hosting Minnesota’s state prayer calls, Heather spending time down at the Capitol, sharing strategies for specific intercession, and discussing how to bring the kingdom of God into government. “We want to support our legislators as best we can. IFA provides great opportunities through Capitol Connections to show our support for our legislators and to intercede for them on our state call every week,” Heather said.
The Battle Ahead: Compromised Leaders, Harmful Legislation, and Fraud
“Our state group has many faithful intercessors, and we are growing. We see the need, especially since, in the recent news, Minnesota Democrats doubled down after the Supreme Court struck down conversion therapy in Colorado. They want to give access to children and accept gender identity.” (7:43).
“We are focusing on fraud in Minnesota. Our regional IFA leaders, Bill and Betsy West, have encouraged state leaders to have a big, audacious prayer before the Lord. Ours is for our Attorney General, Keith Ellison. So far, he has brought very little litigation against fraudulent businesses. And we haven’t seen any accountability in government agencies or elected officials. Keith Ellison is also known to be very embedded in the spirit of Islam.
Currently, our State House is split 67-67, and our State Senate is Democrat by one person. Democrats have held state positions for many years, and we believe it is due to a lack of election integrity. We have a glass ceiling in the Spirit; we are breaking through in prayer. We believe our prayers and intercession are making a difference, and God is on the move in MN.”
“Some governmental leaders partner with the church, and some are seemingly in lockstep with Islam. The legislation is often harmful to children; it is very progressive. So goes Minnesota, so goes the nation. There’s been a lot of prophecy about that. Progressives introduce policies here in Minnesota to see whether we can get them through and how to tweak them for implementation in other states. Laws here are often a litmus test for the rest of the nation. We have multiple transgender people and many Muslims in our legislature, and it’s hard to overcome, but with God, all things are impossible,” Heather said.
The Blessing: Minnesota Rededicates Capitol and Brings the Bible to the State House
“The day after Presidents’ Day, on Feb 16th, 2026, we rededicated our Minnesota Capitol to the Lord at the start of the 2026 MN Session. Several ministries join together for lots of prayer walking around the Capitol. But we didn’t want it to end after ASHP. We want to continue reclaiming Minnesota for God.
On May 11, 2026, in St. Paul, Minnesota, there will be a day-long Bible reading marathon on the steps of the State Capitol. “It will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. We sent email invitations to our governmental officials and churches throughout the state to participate. All Minnesotans are welcome to participate. This date aligns with the founding of Minnesota. We are meeting in the spirit of reclamation. We are calling it a holy land and are putting our stakes in the ground. Our purpose in the Bible reading marathon is to bring the Word of God into the place where our laws are made.”
“With ASHP and the Bible reading, we are hoping this lights a fire under the church. We believe in Minnesota; we are on the cusp of a turning point. We are contending for our state and the nation. We are believing for a breakthrough,” Heather said.
Heather and Jim are among many leaders who believe that continual intercession to see the kingdom invade our government, rededications across America, and the release of the Word of God through Bible reading, will produce good fruit. I wholeheartedly agree with Heather’s conclusion, “I don’t want these things, ASHP and the Bible readings to be just another religious event, and then it’s back to normal. We must continue to press in and not lose any ground.” Will you agree with Heather and Jim’s intercession for a breakthrough in Minnesota?
Pray that legislation forcing vaccines on all children, including homeschoolers, will not make it to the floor.
Pray that the legislation requiring parental consent for underage social media accounts and age verification for online porn sites will pass.
Pray that the equal rights legislation that would remove religious liberty will not pass.
Pray that election fraud will not only be exposed but will also be penalized.
Pray that every glass ceiling of delay in the Spirit and limitations be shattered.
The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power] (James 5:16 AMP).
Are you excited to see how our leaders are partnering with intercessors?
