JERUSALEM, Israel – There’s a school of thought within the Christian church claiming that God’s promises for Israel are no longer valid. It is called “replacement theology.” Pastor Jim Scudder from InGrace Ministries has a response to that, and he shared it with CBN News.
He told us that the reason he knows that the Church didn’t replace Israel is “because God gave unconditional promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They (the promises) were unilateral; it was just God to them. So, it was like God unilaterally, unconditionally, and eternally giving them a promise of this land.”
He added, “If God if has promised me eternal life and I have believed in him, and I have trusted in him, and I know that he keeps his promise to me for that, and He’ll never leave me or forsake me, and all of those promises that we have, then his promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants is also as sure. And so that’s where we feel replacement theology – or supersessionism – is incorrect.”
