    The View That Changes Everything

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB1995)

A cry of a wounded animal filled the Haitian village. A group of young women followed the sound and discovered it was actually a small boy. At the age of 3, this boy, named Frantzky, weighed only 13 pounds. The team sadly confirmed that his mother did not want him, likely seeing him as cursed because of his disabilities. But a nearby Christian ministry took him in, providing medical care, education, and a foster family.

Not long after, Frantzky became gravely ill with malaria. God brought people together to fly medicine from the U.S. to Haiti for him. This dramatic act of love not only saved his life but caused people throughout his community to ask: If their God loves this “cursed” child enough to send a plane for him, how much must this God love me?

When I visited Haiti in 2015, I saw Frantzky’s brilliant smile firsthand. Though he was unable to walk or talk, he lit up every room with a joy hard to comprehend.

Years later, Frantzky passed away. To the surprise of the ministry that had cared for him, the entire village came to honor him — including his mother. They now saw Frantzky not as a curse but as a child of God.

I’m convicted by Frantzky’s story, and I wonder how often I’ve failed to see the worth of others because I was relying on my own perspective instead of God’s. What would change if I chose to see the people around me through His eyes?

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

The Hebrew word for “acknowledge” is yadah, which means “to know” with intimacy and experience. This means if I want to see the world through God’s eyes, I need to know Him intimately.

When we spend time with our Creator, we begin to see differently. We don’t just gain a new perspective — we start to see through His perspective. As we submit to God’s way, our path aligns with His, and our vision of others grows clearer. Frantzky’s village witnessed God’s love for a boy who needed His help, and they came to see him not as a curse but as a child of the Almighty.

Like that village, you and I are invited to see differently … to recognize the immeasurable worth God gives every person. As we walk closely with God, He reshapes our vision, teaching us not to measure others by the world’s standards but to see them through His eyes of love. And when we choose His perspective, we’ll find that no one is irredeemable, forgotten, or overlooked — all are beloved by God.

Father, thank You for seeing beyond my failures and doubts to see me as Your child. I ask that You come close to me as I seek to know You deeper. Open my eyes today to see others the way You see them. Align my ways with Yours. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

    FOR DEEPER STUDY

1 Samuel 16:7, “… The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (NIV).

Where might you be tempted to judge someone based on outward appearance, ability, or circumstance instead of looking at their God-given worth?

How can you practice seeing the people around you through God’s eyes this week? Share with us in the comments.
