As the shutdown continues, the Federal Aviation Administration is reducing air traffic. This comes after Secretary Duffy said the Department of Transportation may have to close portions of U.S. airspace.

Find out when your state prays.

    From Fox Business:

The Federal Aviation Administration said it will reduce air traffic by 10% across 40 high-volume markets to maintain safety amid the shutdown and ongoing air traffic control staffing shortages.

A source told FOX Business the reductions will start at 4% on Friday and gradually ramp up to 10% next week, where they’ll stay “until the FAA feels comfortable with safety levels.”

The move could eliminate thousands of flights each day for as long as the shutdown continues.

Air traffic controllers have been working without pay since the beginning of the shutdown, exacerbating an existing shortage in the industry. As IFA reported, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a Tuesday press conference that his department would be forced to close parts of the United States’ airspace if the shutdown was not resolved soon.

Major airlines such as United, Southwest, and American responded to the decision to close portions of U.S. airspace, promising to “work to reduce the impact on passengers as schedules are trimmed,” according to Fox. United CEO Scott Kirby said in a letter to his employees that “United’s long-haul international flying and our hub-to-hub flying will not be impacted,” and that the airline will offer refunds to customers who chose not to travel during this unpredictable period.

This is the longest government shutdown in the history of our nation. SNAP and Airlines have already been heavily impacted, and things in our nation will only get worse. Let’s pray for a swift end to the shutdown that will bless Americans and honor God!
