In a very real way, that same kind of needless turmoil was happening in the home of Jairus in Mark chapter five.

There are moments when life hits you so hard that your mind races straight to the worst conclusion. You get one piece of bad news, one unexpected setback, one painful conversation, and suddenly you find yourself planning the funeral of a situation that is still breathing. That is exactly what was happening in that house.

The room was filled with noise. Weeping, wailing, panic, and fear. A full commotion. They had already accepted defeat. They had gone into funeral mode while the miracle worker was standing in the same space. Fear makes noise, but faith makes room. Jesus stepped into the chaos and asked a simple yet piercing question. Why are you blowing this up as if I am not standing here with you? He was not dismissing the pain. He was not pretending the situation was easy. He was reminding them that their grief had grown louder than their faith.

God often has to ask us the same question. Why are you making so much ado about something I am already moving in? Why give more of your energy to the worst-case scenario than to the truth that I am with you and for you? There are seasons where we live in anxiety mode. Every small thing feels like a disaster. Every challenge feels like the end. We rehearse the problem again and again until our emotions are louder than the promises of God.

When Jesus stepped into that house, He did what many of us need to do. He cleared the room. He put out the voices of doubt, fear, noise, and negativity. Only after clearing space for faith did He take the girl by the hand and speak life. If your heart has become a panic-filled room, it is time to put out whatever is feeding the fear. Silence the noise that says God is finished. Push aside the thoughts that insist the story is over.

Faith does not ignore reality. It simply refuses to let fear write the ending.

Some of us walk around with a casket in our minds. We picture the worst. Expect the worst. Speak the worst. But Jesus invites you today to trade that casket for confidence. He is present. He is able. He is working in ways you cannot yet see. Find your hallelujah in the chaos. Praise Him when your heart wants to panic. Worship when everything in you wants to worry. One of them must leave the room. Choose faith. Choose praise. Lift your eyes above the fear that wraps around your mind. Jesus is everything. Fear is nothing. You are not alone.

Prayer: Lord, remind me to quiet the noise and make room for You. Help me resist the urge to imagine the worst and instead trust Your presence and Your power. Give me strength, peace, and a hallelujah in the middle of every situation. Amen.

Watch the Full Sermon Here

“Why all this commotion and wailing?
