Programs, Ensure Only Citizens Receive Benefits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n              <span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time:<\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a bid to cut waste and restore transparency, U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said that her department is examining all government-assistance programs to ensure only legal citizens are receiving help.\n<\/p>\n<h4>Connect with others in your state in prayer.<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From The Epoch Times:\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt @POTUS\u2019 direction we will be reviewing ALL @USDA PROGRAMS to ensure only legal citizens are receiving benefits,\u201c USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier this year, USDA put states on notice reminding them illegal immigrants and certain non-citizens CAN NOT receive SNAP benefits.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, we are requiring states turn over recipient data to fight waste, fraud, and abuse. Even though 22 blue states have refused to provide the data, we are using every tool to compel their compliance. WHAT are they hiding? WHO are they hiding? Thank you, President Trump, for putting Americans first!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, President Trump signed an executive order ordering the USDA to ensure \u201ctaxpayer-funded benefits exclude any ineligible alien who entered the United States illegally.\u201d In April, the USDA asked states to verify SNAP applicants\u2019 identities in order to ensure that all enrolled in the program are legal American citizens.\n<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, on October 31, the USDA instructed all SNAP state agencies to no longer provide benefits to certain immigrant groups, including \u201crefugees, parolees, individuals granted asylum, and individuals whose deportation has been withheld.\u201d Democrats didn\u2019t like this and, on November 26, 21 blue states and D.C. sued the USDA over its new guidance.\n<\/p>\n<p>There is definitely a need to address this. The Times notes that, last month, \u201c[Secretary] Rollins revealed that a USDA audit showed SNAP funding was being provided to almost 186,000 dead people, and that around half a million SNAP recipients were getting benefits twice.\u201d Clearly, SNAP, just like any other government program, has its fair share of fraud.
