Not a burden of worry, but a burden of faith. Are we passing on the shield of faith to a new generation? Or have we let the glitter of culture distract us from the calling that matters most?

Scripture calls us to raise up spiritual Spartans, people who know how to put on the whole armor of God and stand firm when life gets loud. And the truth is this. Children learn to stand strong when they watch their parents stand strong. They learn prayer when they hear prayer. They learn worship when they see you worship. They learn courage when they see you cling to Jesus in hard moments rather than crumble.

I can remember moments with my own children when a simple devotion around the table turned into something sacred. Most days were quick. We would read a verse or say a short prayer before rushing into the next thing. But every so often, I would start sharing a story, and as my little family leaned in close, the presence of the Lord would quietly fill the room. Tears would fall. Hearts would soften. Conversations would open wide. That is what it looks like to pass the shield. Those are the moments that shape a generation more than any sermon they hear on a Sunday.

This call is especially strong for the men God has placed in the home. Scripture says be watchful. Do not fall asleep. Do not grow lazy. You are the band that holds the house together. You are the one who lifts the shield when the enemy presses in on your marriage, your children, your purity, and your purpose. Act like a man. Not the way culture defines it. Not by trophies, not by ego, not by success. But by integrity, humility, and devotion to Jesus.

Anyone can drift. Anyone can chase glitter. But it takes a man of God to pray. It takes a man of God to lead. It takes a man of God to say my house will serve the Lord. That is spiritual strength. That is spiritual courage. And that is what passes the shield from your hands to theirs.

When you worship, you polish the shield.
