Ahead of November, the Trump administration is seeking to protect our election by suing over 20 states that are not complying with federal voter roll verification requirements.\n<\/p>\n<h4>This content is supported by your donations.<br \/>Give today.<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From the Daily Wire:\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon\u00a0announced\u00a0Monday that the Department of Justice had launched 23 lawsuits against 22 states that have not complied with federal voter roll verification requirements.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In mid-September, the DOJ\u2019s Civil Rights Division\u00a0sued\u00a0the states of Oregon and Maine and their respective Secretaries of State for failing to provide information on voter list maintenance procedures and electronic copies of statewide voter registration lists. \u201cStates simply cannot pick and choose which federal laws they will comply with, including our voting laws, which ensure that all American citizens have equal access to the ballot in federal elections,\u201d Dhillon said.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u2026\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In late September, the Trump administration filed a lawsuit against six more states after the DOJ accused them of failing to comply with federal law by refusing to turn over voter registration records.\u00a0The states included California, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania.\n<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Attorney General Dhillon announced the lawsuits on Monday, stating that \u201cAmerican citizens have a right to feel confident in the integrity of our electoral process,\u201d and that the \u201crefusal of certain states to protect their citizens against vote dilution will result in legal consequences.\u201d She also reported that 13 states have voluntarily complied with the Trump administration so far.\n<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, over 20 states are refusing to comply. The Assistant Attorney General announced that California in particular \u201chas two lawsuits.\u201d And speaking of noncompliance, the Daily Wire notes that Maine\u2019s Secretary of State Shenna Bellows responded to the lawsuit by telling the Assistant AG to \u201cjump in the Gulf of Maine.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>With midterms just around the corner, it\u2019s extremely important that America has elections its citizens can trust.
