A recently uncovered memo instructed city officials in Portland, Oregon, to, when interacting with ICE agents, demand warrants, never volunteer information, and call an \u201cimmigrant rights\u201d hotline for help.\n<\/p>\n<h4>This content is supported by your donations.<br \/>Give today.<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From the Daily Caller:\n<\/p>\n<p>Portland, Oregon, officials across the city government are instructed to call an activist group for help if they spot Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and to record their actions for potential legal cases, according to a November memo exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.\n<\/p>\n<p>City workers should call a hotline to the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition (PIRC) when ICE appears, demand that the agency present judicial warrants for access to buildings and send documentation of any ICE incident to the city attorney,\u00a0the memo\u00a0says. \u201cPIRC will activate MigraWatch volunteers to investigate and confirm reports of ICE,\u201d reads the document, which is labeled an \u201cEmployee Guide\u201d for interacting with immigration authorities.\n<\/p>\n<p>The memo gives several precautions for what employees should tell ICE agents who approach them, urging as much secrecy as possible for the migrants they seek. \u201cDo not say whether an employee or any other individual is working, present or not \u2026 Do not lie to an agent, but do not volunteer information if the agent has not asked for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oregon is a sanctuary state with policies banning local officials from assisting ICE. As the Daily Caller notes, these policies allow criminals to walk free, forcing ICE to track them down independently.\n<\/p>\n<p>This comes as city and state officials across the state have been combatting President Trump\u2019s deportation agenda. Democratic communities have passed laws and created policies designed to inconvenience and endanger federal law enforcement. We\u2019ve published several stories about these states and cities. This memo from Portland is only the latest action taken to halt ICE.\n<\/p>\n<p>Across the country, attacks like these are continuing.
