House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., has introduced a plan to end the rampant fraud not only in his home state of Minnesota but across the country.\n<\/p>\n

In response to massive amounts of\u00a0fraud uncovered in Minnesota\u2014most prominently at the hands of the state\u2019s large Somali population\u2014Emmer has introduced the SCAM Act\u00a0to denaturalize fraudsters, terrorists, and felons\u00a0throughout the country.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you came to this country to harm and take advantage of the American people, I\u2019ve got news for you: You\u2019re going home,\u201d Emmer said in a press release of the announcement.\n<\/p>\n

Emmer introduced the SCAM Act, or the Stop Citizenship Abuse and Misrepresentation Act, on Tuesday.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cSome naturalized citizens have treated their new citizenship status as a purely administrative benefit they can leverage for their own personal gain,\u201d Emmer told The Daily Signal. \u201cThey won\u2019t get away with that anymore,\u201d\u00a0Emmer added.\n<\/p>\n

The legislation\u00a0notes that,\u00a0according to\u00a0U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services,\u00a0during the naturalization process, applicants must\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0that they are\u00a0persons of good moral character, attached to the principles of the\u00a0Constitution\u00a0of\u00a0the United States, and well-disposed to the good order and happiness of the United States.\n<\/p>\n

The SCAM Act would clarify what good moral character means and allow the government to\u00a0prove that a person did not meet the requirements. Anyone who has been convicted of government welfare fraud, is affiliated with a transnational criminal organization like a terror group or a drug cartel, or convicted of an aggravated felony within 10 years of naturalization is in jeopardy of being denaturalized.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThe SCAM Act will expand and clarify the grounds for denaturalization, making it easier to denaturalize criminals who commit fraud, an aggravated felony, espionage, or join a terrorist group within ten years of their naturalization,\u201d said Emmer.\n<\/p>\n

There are about\u00a07 million\u00a0people\u00a0in the U.S. who have been naturalized in the past 10 years who would be subject to denaturalization if found guilty of any of the crimes Emmer lists.\n<\/p>\n

The Department of Justice recently launched an investigation into multiple Minnesota state officials, including Democrat Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey,\u00a0to uncover if there is a connection to the fraud schemes.\n<\/p>\n

The DOJ has charged roughly 100\u00a0people in Minnesota with fraud-related charges as of late. A large majority of them are of\u00a0Somali\u00a0descent.\n<\/p>\n

The Treasury Department and the IRS have also launched multiple investigations\u00a0and audits throughout the state related to fraud.\n<\/p>\n

Senator Eric Schmitt just introduced \u2018The SCAM Act\u2019, which would revoke the citizenship of legal migrants who commit fraud and serious felonies, including the Somalis in Minnesota:\n<\/p>\n

The Senate is pushing a similar piece of legislation, also called the SCAM Act, introduced by Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., the day prior.\n<\/p>\n
