Tim Walz (D), the Democratic Party\u2019s 2024 nominee for vice president, is facing fierce backlash after he compared Anne Frank hiding from Nazis in Germany before dying in a concentration camp to the plight of illegal immigrants in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Now the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., is condemning any such comparisons as \u201cnever acceptable\u201d and \u201cdeeply offensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnne Frank was targeted and murdered solely because she was Jewish,\u201d the museum\u00a0stated on X. \u201cLeaders making false equivalencies to her experience for political purposes is never acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It continued, \u201cDespite tensions in Minneapolis, exploiting the Holocaust is deeply offensive, especially as antisemitism surges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the post from the museum didn\u2019t include Walz\u2019s name, it came one day after the leftist governor said children in Minneapolis are \u201chiding in their houses\u201d because of President Donald Trump\u2019s effort to enforce immigration laws through Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have got children hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside,\u201d he said at a press conference after the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by a Border Patrol agent. \u201cMany of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank. Somebody\u2019s gonna write that children\u2019s story about Minnesota.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that Republicans in Congress\u00a0are demanding a full investigation\u00a0into Pretti\u2019s shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Walz, however, was widely panned for the comparison to Frank, who, at just 15 years old, died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.<\/p>\n<p>In response, the White House\u00a0rebuked Walz\u00a0as \u201ca truly disturbed, unstable individual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite repeated aggression against the Trump administration, Walz appeared to at least partly capitulate to the White House on Monday, when he spoke with the president over the phone. According to Trump, the Minnesota governor said he wanted to \u201cwork together\u201d on the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernor Tim Walz called me with the request to work together with respect to Minnesota,\u201d Trump said of the conversation. \u201cIt was a very good call, and we, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told Gov.
