{"id":17993,"date":"2026-02-06T22:39:41","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T22:39:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=17993"},"modified":"2026-02-06T22:39:41","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T22:39:41","slug":"american-optimism-on-financial-security-is-increasing-under-trump-poll-finds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=17993","title":{"rendered":"American Optimism on Financial Security Is Increasing Under Trump, Poll Finds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n              <span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time:<\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pollster\u00a0Scott Rasmussen of the Napolitan Institute told reporters on Wednesday that Americans\u2019 optimism about their personal financial situation under President\u00a0Donald Trump is increasing.\n<\/p>\n<h4>Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Americans\u2019 optimism for their personal financial situation\u00a0increased\u00a0from 24% to 32% since November, according to polling from Napolitan.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the depths of despair in the midst of that\u00a0government shutdown\u00a0a couple of months ago, 4 out of 5 polls have shown some improvement,\u201d Rasmussen said.\n<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Americans\u2019 pessimism has declined by 11%, from 41% to 30%.\n<\/p>\n<p>Rasmussen\u2019s finding comes over a year after Trump took office for the second time.\n<\/p>\n<p>Trump entered office after four years of\u00a0higher prices\u00a0and\u00a0high inflation.\n<\/p>\n<p>Despite the increase in optimism, however, Rasmussen stated that the poll numbers are still not significant enough for the Republican Party to lean on heading into the midterms.\n<\/p>\n<p>The pollster noted that people\u2019s previous feelings about their personal finances have harmed the president\u2019s reputation with the public.\n<\/p>\n<p>Rasmussen noted that the public outlook on their personal finances has slightly reduced Trump\u2019s voting base by 7% this time last year, with a 5% decline in voters \u201cwho strongly approve\u201d of Trump\u2019s job as president. Yet 97% of Trump base voters continue to approve of the president\u2019s performance; 64% of them \u201cstrongly approve.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not that the base is being disenchanted,\u201d he added. \u201cIt is simply just that the base is getting a little bit smaller.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cIf this is a ceiling and we can\u2019t go above it, Democrats are very likely to take the house\u2026\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ScottWRasmussen?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@ScottWRasmussen<\/a> takes under 3 minutes to discuss some exciting economic numbers for Republicans, but also issues a caution. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bQMiolF6n4\">pic.twitter.com\/bQMiolF6n4<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Napolitan News Service (@NapolitanNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NapolitanNews\/status\/2019128475307917351?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February 4, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile it\u2019s impossible to define precisely why the base has been shrinking, economic perceptions are likely playing a part in it,\u201d Rasmussen told The Daily Signal.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople aren\u2019t really connecting their better finances with Trump\u2019s policies,\u201d Rasmussen claimed.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the economy were to improve, it would be very important for the Trump administration to connect those improvements to the tax cuts that were passed last year,\u201d Rasmussen continued.\n<\/p>\n<p>Rasmussen added that current legislation to require government-issued IDs in order to vote, such as the\u00a0Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE Act for short, has broad support from the public.\n<\/p>\n<p>Rasmussen noted that this could weigh heavily on political parties heading into the midterms.\n<\/p>\n<p>Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., recently\u00a0vowed to block the SAVE Act\u00a0from passing the Senate, as he described it as \u201cJim Crow era\u201d legislation.\n<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D.,\u00a0is under pressure\u00a0to use the talking filibuster to escape the 60-vote filibuster in the Senate and pass the SAVE Act.\n<\/p>\n<h4>Do you feel that your financial situation has improved under President Trump?
