{"id":19445,"date":"2026-02-21T15:47:42","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T15:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=19445"},"modified":"2026-02-21T15:47:42","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T15:47:42","slug":"february-21st-chronological-bible-readings-chronological-bible-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=19445","title":{"rendered":"February 21st Chronological Bible Readings \u2013 Chronological Bible Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong>Leviticus 14:33-16:34<\/strong><\/span><br \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">~ Click here to read today\u2019s Scripture on Bible Gateway ~<\/span><\/em><br \/><span style=\"color: black\"><em>~ Listen to today\u2019s Scripture with <\/em><em>The ESV Bible<\/em><\/span> ~<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Today in Leviticus chapter 14 we read about cleansing from skin diseases and treatment of contaminated houses.\u00a0 I found the treatment of the mildew in the houses quite fascinating \u2013 with verse 45 telling us about the ultimatum for a house if the mildew reappears: <em>\u201cIt must be torn down, and all its stones, timbers, and plaster must be carried out of town to the place designated as ceremonially unclean.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>This chapter again goes into the clean &amp; the unclean.\u00a0 If you didn\u2019t get chance to read the bible.org commentary on Clean &amp; Unclean from Leviticus chapters 12 through 15, you may want to take a few minutes to read it <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">at this link<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"> Verses 52 &amp; 53 today: <em>\u201cAfter he has purified the house in this way, he will release the living bird in the open fields outside the town. In this way, the priest will make atonement for the house, and it will be ceremonially clean.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Today in Leviticus chapter 15 we read about bodily discharges\u2026\u00a0 Anyone want to be the guest blogger on this chapter today?\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 I am thinking today is a good day to share with you some of Bible.org\u2019s essays on the topic of sex.\u00a0 (though sex is only mentioned briefly in this chapter, still seems appropriate)\u00a0 Check out Bob Deffinbaugh\u2019s \u201cSex and the Spiritual Christian\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">at this link<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">. (it\u2019s not based on this chapter but 1 Corinthians 7)\u00a0 \u00a0Daniel Wallace with bible.org has comments on Biblical views of sex <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">at this link<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">.\u00a0 And then Bob Deffinbaugh again at bible.org has commentary on the relationship between spirituality and sexuality <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">at this link<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">In Leviticus chapter 16 we read about the Day of Atonement.\u00a0 Ever wonder where the term \u201cscapegoat\u201d came from?\u00a0 Now you know!\u00a0 This chapter.\u00a0 Check out verses 20-23 about the scapegoat \u2013 <em>\u201cWhen Aaron has finished making atonement for the Most Holy Place, the Tabernacle, and the altar, he must bring the living goat forward. He is to lay both of his hands on the goat\u2019s head and confess over it all the sins and rebellion of the Israelites. In this way, he will lay the people\u2019s sins on the head of the goat; then he will send it out into the wilderness, led by a man chosen for this task. After the man sets it free in the wilderness, the goat will carry all the people\u2019s sins upon itself into a desolate land.\u201d<\/em> There was also the other goat which was sacrificed.\u00a0 I read a commentary that said that both of these 2 goats foreshadowed Jesus\u2019 death \u2013 that Jesus was both sacrificed for atonement for our sins and Jesus is our permanent scapegoat. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">In verse 34 we read \u2013 <em>\u201cThis is a permanent law for you, to make atonement for the Israelites once each year.\u201d<\/em> You\u2019ll notice the \u201conce a year\u201d wording in this verse. Contrast this with Jesus\u2019 \u201conce for all\u201d sacrifice discussed in Hebrews chapter 10 verses 12 \u2013 14 \u2013 <em>\u201cBut when this priest (Jesus) had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.\u201d <\/em>For further study on Jesus\u2019 \u201conce for all\u201d sacrifice, please read Hebrews chapters 10 and 9.
