According to Buck Sexton, a former CIA operative turned conservative talk show host, this brainwashing, scientifically known as \u201cmenticide\u201d (the murder of the mind), is a very real threat.\n<\/p>\n

Psychological attacks are real, and the concept of menticide dates to a Dutch psychologist who studied how totalitarian governments control the thoughts of their populations. Joost Meerloo witnessed and studied the way Josef Stalin, Vladimir Lenin, and Mao Zedong used the insights from Pavlov\u2019s experiments on dogs against people. His most famous work is called\u00a0The Rape of the Mind.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cJoost was a trained psychiatrist and got involved with first the resistance and then the Allies in the debriefing of Nazi officials and members of the SS,\u201d Sexton tells Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers on the most recent episode of The Drill Down. \u201cHe realized that something of a psychiatric pandemic had unfolded in Nazi Germany where you had these seemingly normal people willing to do the most heinous things, but also to believe obvious lies.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Sexton has just published a new book,\u00a0Manufacturing Delusion: How the Left Uses Brainwashing, Indoctrination, and Propaganda Against You\u00a0that applies Meerloo\u2019s insights to modern-day techniques used in China, Russia, North Korea, Cuba, and other totalitarian regimes. But the political left in the United States uses these techniques, too. Sexton talks about three specific areas \u2013 COVID, trans ideology, fear over climate change, and Black Live Matter-inspired \u201cstruggle sessions.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

According to Sexton, those who practice menticide use confusion and degradation in an attempt to \u201cdegrade your sense of reason.\u201d Speaking to Schweizer and Eggers, he said, \u201cIf they can get you to affirm the lie, to mouth the preferred slogans no matter how absurd, they are debasing and degrading your own sense of reason, your own sense of your ability to make distinctions and come to reasonable conclusions.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Sexton claims that people are motivated to go along with this confusion by fear of punishment and desires for inclusion and praise. Explaining the fear, Sexton claims that leftists \u201ccan\u2019t lock you in a cell or beat you with truncheons, but they can take away your professorship or get you fired or block you from a job or from school.\u201d And regarding the desires for inclusion and praise, Sexton explains that \u201cpeople want to be civil rights heroes without actually doing anything heroic,\u201d leading them to get swept up in \u201cmob mentality.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

As a practical example of this brainwashing, Sexton highlights the issue of transgenderism. In particular, he highlights the language, as adherents of this ideology swapped out \u201cgender transition\u201d for \u201cgender affirmation.\u201d This constant emphasis on changing language to support delusions is, according to Sexton, the main \u201ctell\u201d of mind control efforts. He also cites phrases like \u201creproductive health care\u201d and \u201cclimate change\u201d as similar examples.\n<\/p>\n

So how should we combat menticide? According to Sexton, the key is to avoid isolation and to have \u201ctrusted individuals \u2026 who are invested in you\u201d in your life.
