Now, however, the Islamic nation has selected Khamenei\u2019s successor.\n<\/p>\n<h4>Pray for your fellow intercessor.<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From Fox News:\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Iran\u2019s Assembly of Experts has elected\u00a0Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the country\u2019s new supreme leader, according to Iranian state television.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, is the second-eldest son of Ali Khamenei and was born in Mashhad in 1969.\n<\/p>\n<p>His early childhood coincided with his father\u2019s rise as a revolutionary figurehead opposing the monarchy of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.<\/p>\n<p>The younger Khamenei reportedly attended Alavi High School, a school for Iran\u2019s political and religious elite. Fox notes he was seen constantly with his father and was considered an \u201cinfluential figure behind the scenes.\u201d Reports also say he is considered to be the most powerful and politically influential of his father\u2019s sons.\n<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has previously sanctioned Mojtaba Khamenei. President Trump also criticized the new leader, saying, \u201cKhamenei\u2019s son is unacceptable to me. We want someone who will bring harmony and peace to Iran. \u2026 I have to be involved in the appointment, like with Delcy [Rodriguez] in Venezuela.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>As the former Supreme Leader\u2019s son, it seems likely that Mojtaba Khamenei will be just as oppressive as his father, if not worse.
