Since taking office last January, President Trump has been focused on stopping the cartels targeting the United States. And, according to a Friday night statement, the U.S. military is now supporting an anti-narcoterrorist effort in Ecuador.\n<\/p>\n

Since September 2, U.S. military forces have conducted\u00a0multiple\u00a0strikes against drug-running vessels, including\u00a0sinking\u00a0a boat with 11 members of Venezuela\u2019s Tren de Aragua gang, which was designated a foreign terrorist organization by Trump on Jan. 20, 2025. The statement noted that Ecuadorian forces were carrying out combat operations against terrorist groups.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are advancing alongside our partners in the fight against narcoterrorism,\u201d Marine Corps Gen. Francis L. Donovan said in the post on X. \u201cI congratulate our joint forces and the Ecuadorian armed forces for the successful operation against narcoterrorists in Ecuador. This collaborative and decisive action is a strategic success for all nations in the Western Hemisphere committed to disrupting and defeating narcoterrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Caller notes that Secretary of State Marco Rubio designated Los Choneros and Los Lobos, two Ecuadorian gangs tied to Mexican cartels, as foreign terrorist organizations in early September. President Trump, meanwhile, designated the drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations on the day he was inaugurated.\n<\/p>\n

This will likely remind many intercessors of the military\u2019s strikes against Tren de Aragua\u2019s drug-running boats, or January\u2019s capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicol\u00e1s Maduro. In both cases, the Trump administration took decisive action to keep America safe. Now, in Ecuador, our military is once again working to protect us.\n<\/p>\n
