Mother\u2019s Day is a beautiful pause in the calendar. Cards are written. Flowers are bought. Restaurants are fully booked.<\/p>\n

And somewhere, I suspect, heaven smiles because whenever we honour sacrificial love, we are echoing the heart of God.<\/p>\n

Motherhood is one of the clearest reflections of divine love on earth. Gentle and strong. And when I think of a mother in the Bible who embodies that strength wrapped in surrender, one name rises above the rest: Mary, mother of Jesus.<\/p>\n

The Courage to Say Yes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mary was likely a teenager when the angel appeared to her.\u00a0No parenting podcast. No blueprint for what was coming.\u00a0Just an extraordinary calling.<\/p>\n

\u2018You will conceive and give birth to a son.\u2019<\/p>\n

This was not convenient. This was costly. It carried misunderstanding, raised eyebrows and social risk. And yet her response is one of the most powerful sentences ever spoken: \u2018I am the Lord\u2019s servant … May your word to me be fulfilled\u2019 (Luke 1:38 NIV).<\/p>\n

That is courage.<\/p>\n

That is surrender.<\/p>\n

Motherhood often begins with surrender \u2013 surrender of sleep, surrender of personal plans, surrender of tidy homes. It is leadership without applause. Influence without a stage. Theology lived out in kitchens. The world celebrates platforms. God celebrates faithfulness.<\/p>\n

Love That Ponders<\/strong><\/p>\n

Luke tells us that Mary \u2018treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart\u2019 (Luke 2:19 NIV).<\/p>\n

Mothers are keepers of moments. First steps. First words. First heartbreaks. First prayers.\u00a0They store memories, even the ordinary ones, like precious jewels.<\/p>\n

There is something deeply spiritual about pondering. It is the refusal to rush past what God is doing. It is noticing grace in the mundane. And in a noisy world, mothers quietly teach us the sacred art of noticing.<\/p>\n

The Sword and the Standing<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the elderly Simeon held the infant Jesus, he turned to Mary and said,\u00a0\u2018A sword will pierce your own soul too\u2019 (Luke 2:35 NIV).<\/p>\n

Motherhood is joy but it is also vulnerability.\u00a0Mary carried Jesus in her womb. She carried him in her arms. And one day, she watched him carry a cross.<\/p>\n

She could not stop it.
She could not fix it.
She could only stand.<\/p>\n

And there is something profoundly holy about a mother who stands.<\/p>\n

Some of you have stood through sleepless nights.
Some have stood through seasons of rebellion.
Some have stood in hospital corridors.
Some have stood in prayer when words ran out.<\/p>\n

Standing may not look dramatic, but in heaven it is seen as courage.<\/p>\n

To Every Mother<\/strong><\/p>\n

To the exhausted mum who wonders if she\u2019s getting anything right \u2013 you are shaping eternity in ways you cannot yet see.<\/p>\n

To the mum of teenagers who communicate in shrugs and one-word answers \u2013 do not lose heart. Even Jesus once went missing at the age of twelve.<\/p>\n

To the mum of adult children who still worries \u2013 love does not retire.<\/p>\n

To the grandmother whose knees may ache but whose prayers shake heaven \u2013 you are not sidelined; you are strategic.<\/p>\n

Motherhood is not measured in perfection. It is measured in presence.<\/p>\n

The meals cooked.
The lifts given.
The advice offered.
The prayers whispered over sleeping children.<\/p>\n

Nothing is wasted in God\u2019s economy. Nothing.<\/p>\n

A Word for Tender Hearts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mother\u2019s Day is not simple for everyone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For some, it carries longing \u2013 those who hoped for children but never held them.<\/p>\n

For some, it carries grief \u2013 mothers who have buried a child. There are no neat sentences for that pain.<\/p>\n

For some, it is complicated \u2013 fractured relationships, absence, disappointment.<\/p>\n

If that is you, please hear this clearly: God sees you.<\/p>\n

In God\u2019s kingdom, fruitfulness is not limited to biology. There are spiritual mothers who mentor, disciple, encourage and pray life into others. There are women who have shaped generations without ever giving birth.<\/p>\n

And for those who grieve, remember this: the same Mary who stood at a cross also witnessed resurrection.<\/p>\n

In Christ, sorrow is real but it is never the final chapter.<\/p>\n

What Mary Teaches Us<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mary did not understand everything, but she trusted the One who did.<\/p>\n

She teaches us to:<\/p>\n

– Say yes to God, even when it disrupts your plans.<\/p>\n

– Treasure what God entrusts to you.<\/p>\n

– Stand when you cannot fix.<\/p>\n

– Trust that God is writing a larger story than you can see.<\/p>\n

That is not just motherhood. That is discipleship.<\/p>\n

So this Mother\u2019s Day, let\u2019s do more than send flowers.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s honour sacrifice.
Let\u2019s celebrate resilience.
Let\u2019s speak gratitude while we can.
Let\u2019s pray for those who carry hidden sorrow.<\/p>\n

And let\u2019s remember . . .<\/p>\n

The hands that rock the cradle often shape the future.
The knees that bend in prayer often move heaven.
And the love that stands in the shadows often shines brightest in eternity.<\/p>\n
