When the\u00a0Biden administration\u00a0turned its attention to concerned parents in the fall of 2021, the Central Intelligence Agency drafted a memo warning about white racial extremists recruiting women for \u201ctraditional motherhood\u201d and \u201chomemaking.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The CIA produced\u00a0an intelligence assessment focused on \u201cwomen advancing white racially and ethnically motivated violent extremist radicalization and recruitment\u201d on Oct. 6, 2021.\n<\/p>\n

The Trump administration released a redacted version of the document, and\u00a0America First Legal\u00a0drew attention to the document on X.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe assess that female members have been emerging as key players of the transnational white racially and ethnically motivated violent extremist (REMVE) movement, taking on diverse roles to advance white REMVE goals\u2014including the white REMVE view of traditional motherhood\u2014and successfully participating in newer roles in propaganda and recruitment,\u201d the assessment states.\n<\/p>\n

The CIA warned about the \u201cgreat replacement\u201d theory, which it framed as extremist.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWhite REMVEs and their sympathizers have claimed in online posts that it is essential for white families to have as many biological children as possible to counter the rising birthrates among non-white populations, white REMVEs allege that this rise is a conspiracy, which they have termed the \u2018great replacement,\u2019\u201d the assessment states.\n<\/p>\n

The CIA discussed a specific organization\u2014the identity of which has been redacted\u2014and noted that this group \u201chas lauded motherhood and homemaking as women\u2019s most important responsibility.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

This memo came as a growing movement of parents protested at school board meetings, demanding that schools reopen amid the COVID-19 pandemic, that schools relax requirements for children to wear face masks, and that schools cease\u00a0promoting transgender ideology\u00a0and racially divisive policies.\n<\/p>\n

On Sept. 29, the National School Boards Association sent a letter to then-President Joe Biden, comparing these concerned parents to domestic terrorists. Then-Attorney General Merrick Garland responded with an Oct. 4 memo to the FBI, U.S. attorneys, and the Justice Department\u2019s criminal division to craft \u201cstrategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff.\u201d The NSBA later rescinded the letter and apologized amid pushback.\n<\/p>\n

The Biden\u00a0Justice Department worked closely\u00a0with the Southern Poverty Law Center, a left-wing public interest law firm that leverages its history of suing the Ku Klux Klan into bankruptcy to place mainstream conservative and Christian groups on a \u201chate map\u201d with Klan chapters. In 2023, the\u00a0SPLC added Moms for Liberty\u00a0and other concerned parents\u2019 groups to the \u201chate map.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The FBI\u2019s Richmond office would go on to cite the SPLC in drafting a memo on \u201cradical-traditional Catholics.\u201d While the FBI later rescinded the memo, the SPLC has kept the \u201cradical-traditional Catholic hate groups\u201d on the \u201chate map.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The FBI officially\u00a0cut all ties with the SPLC\u00a0last year.\n<\/p>\n

The CIA did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but this story will be updated with any response.\n<\/p>\n
