Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, echoed continuing warnings from some lawmakers regarding the influence of mass Islamic immigration and Sharia law in the United States, which he claimed earlier this week poses a fundamental threat to the American system.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we want to preserve America, the country that we know and love, our constitutional order, we have to wake up and realize that mass Islamic immigration is incredibly harmful,\u201d Gill said during an interview with journalist Erick Stakelbeck. \u201cWhat we don\u2019t want to see is the American way of life fundamentally transformed because you have Islamic pressure on our legal system.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Gill warned such is already \u201cstarting to happen\u201d in the U.S., adding, \u201cWe can be politically correct about it, or we can wake up and we can defend our country.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The congressman went on to caution that swaths of cities such as London and Paris have effectively become self-governing enclaves of Sharia within a Western democracy after decades of mass Muslim immigration.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got parts of Paris or London that no longer look Parisian or English anymore,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019ve got areas in both of those cities that are no-go zones for native Parisians or native Londoners. That is a problem.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we don\u2019t want to see is parallel legal institutions popping up in the United States, which they are, in the same way that you have in Europe,\u201d he added.\n<\/p>\n

Gill, a Christian and member of the U.S. House\u2019s burgeoning\u00a0Sharia-Free America Caucus, has been among several Republicans on Capitol Hill who have been lately sounding the alarm about Islamic law, which they argue is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution.\n<\/p>\n

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S.,\u00a0designated the caucus\u00a0as an extremist organization shortly after Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, and another Texas congressman established it in January amid concerns about the influx of Muslim immigration to Texas.\n<\/p>\n

During\u00a0a House hearing\u00a0last month on the issue, chaired by Roy and attended by The Christian Post, Gill cited figures from\u00a0a 2024 survey\u00a0by The Heritage Foundation that found 39% of Muslims in the U.S. believe Sharia law should be implemented in the country within the next two decades.\n<\/p>\n

The survey also found that half of Muslims in the U.S. believe depicting Muhammad should be illegal, and 33% believe Islam should be declared as the national religion.\n<\/p>\n

Gill\u2019s figures prompted snickering at the time from Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., who was among the Democrats at the hearing who were dismissive of the Sharia threat and raised concern instead about the alleged danger posed by \u201cwhite Christian nationalism.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Last week, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., also\u00a0claimed\u00a0Sharia in the U.S. is \u201ca serious problem.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\u201cSharia law and the imposition of Sharia law is contrary to the U.S. Constitution,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cOur Constitution is the greatest in the world. It\u2019s the longest surviving Constitution on the planet, and we\u2019re 250 years into this grand experiment in self-governance.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

The speaker went on to say that assimilation is necessary from immigrants to the U.S., but that some of them aim to impose Sharia law.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not about people, as Muslims; it is about those who seek to impose a different belief system that is in direct conflict with the Constitution,\u201d he added.\n<\/p>\n

Johnson\u2019s remarks were in response to a question about a recent\u00a0X post\u00a0from Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., who claimed that \u201cMuslims don\u2019t belong in American society\u201d and that \u201cpluralism is a lie.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

In the wake of\u00a0a mass shooting\u00a0in Austin, Texas, earlier this month, Ogles\u00a0proposed legislation\u00a0that would ban immigrants from Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen.\n<\/p>\n
