She also cheered on the First Intifada against Israel.\n<\/p>\n<p>The Beacon reported that Duwaji, now 28, posted on the social media website Tumblr under the pseudonym \u201cdiimashq.\u201d This account posted a photo of\u00a0Palestinian terrorist Leila Khaled\u00a0in 2017 with the caption \u201cIf it does good for my cause, I\u2019ll be happy to accept death.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Duwaji, who is originally from Syria, reportedly made other posts in support of members of the PFLP. She posted a photo of terrorist Shadia Abu Ghazaleh in a tribute for International Women\u2019s Day. Ghazaleh participated in several deadly bombings in Israel in the 1960s before accidentally blowing herself up with a bomb she was making for a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv.\n<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Duwaji also reposted\u00a0a Tumblr account\u00a0supporting attacks on U.S. troops.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201c*taps mic* American soldiers fighting in imperialist wars are not brave nor are they fighting for anyone\u2019s freedom,\u201d the post stated. \u201cThey are mercilessly slaughtering 3rd world civilians and fighting to maintain American hegemony. That is all, thank you! *drops mic*\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>These revelations come shortly after\u00a0reports that Duwaji produced art\u00a0featured in an article by an anti-Israel activist. The author previously had said the Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel was \u201cspectacular,\u201d and had called Jews \u201cvampires,\u201d among other derogatory names.\n<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani said in response that he\u00a0found the author\u2019s language unacceptable.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that that rhetoric is patently unacceptable. I think it\u2019s reprehensible,\u201d he said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs is common for freelance illustrators, the first lady was commissioned to illustrate an excerpt of a book by a third party. She has never engaged with or met with the author, nor has she seen the tweets that you\u2019re referring to,\u201d he told reporters.\n<\/p>\n<p>That story followed a report in early March that Duwaji had \u201cliked\u201d a series of\u00a0Instagram posts\u00a0celebrating the Oct. 7 attack.\n<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani, in a news conference, condemned the terrorist attack and said that his wife is a \u201cprivate person.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy wife is the love of my life, and she\u2019s also a private person who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall,\u201d\u00a0Mamdani said. \u201cI, however, was elected to represent all 8.5 million people in the city, and I believe that it\u2019s my responsibility, because of that role, to answer any questions about my thoughts and my policies and my decisions.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Signal reached out to the mayor\u2019s press office about this story but did not receive a response by publication time.\n<\/p>\n<h4>Share your prayers against antisemitism below.<\/h4>\n<p><em>This article was originally published at The Daily Signal.
