Joshua 10:1-12:6<\/strong><\/span> Today in Joshua chapter 10 we read about the day the sun stood still!\u00a0 Have you ever received the email about this chapter titled \u201cNASA and the Bible?\u201d \u2013 basically the email goes into how a man from NASA proved that the sun stood still.\u00a0 I have received this email a bunch of times over the past 5 years or so.\u00a0 This email does appear to be an Urban Legend, but it\u2019s a fun email.<\/span>\u00a0 I have read many commentaries on this chapter and do believe that a miracle took place, as we read in verse 13 \u2013 \u201cSo the sun and moon stood still until the Israelites had defeated their enemies. Is this event not recorded in The Book of Jashar?\u00a0 The sun stopped in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 Do you believe this miracle took place?\u00a0 Do you believe in miracles?\u00a0 Here\u2019s a great stained glass image below from Duke University Chapel with Joshua and the son and the moon:<\/span> Bible.org\u2019s commentary on our Joshua chapter 10 readings today is <\/span>at this link<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n An interesting note on Joshua 11 verse 21 \u2013 \u201cDuring this period, Joshua destroyed all the descendants of Anak, who lived in the hill country of Hebron, Debir, Anab, and the entire hill country of Judah and Israel.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 The descendants of Anak were the giants the Israelite spies feared some 40 years earlier in Numbers chapter 13 verses 32 & 33 \u2013 and you\u2019ll recall these verses kept the Israelites wandering in the desert for the next 40 years\u2026 \u201cThe land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>Interesting to see how the fear of 40 years prior had turned into the faith and confidence here in Joshua.\u00a0 I wonder if this type of change can happen in our lives too?\u00a0 A change from fear to faith and confidence?\u00a0 Is there an area in your life where you might need this type of change?\u00a0 Below is a good map of the nations of Canaan at the time of the conquest:<\/span> Worship Video:<\/strong> Today\u2019s readings in Joshua 10:13 reminded me of Chris Tomlin singing the Laura Story song \u201cIndescribable:\u201d<\/span>
