Shannon Bream, the first woman to anchor \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d in the show\u2019s 26-year history, may talk politics for her job, but it\u2019s not her priority.<\/p>\n
She recently appeared on CBN\u2019s\u00a0Faith in Culture<\/em>\u00a0podcast, where she talked about balance and priorities.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re not called to carry out anyone\u2019s political or news agenda,\u201d she said. \u201cAs believers, we\u2019re called to carry out Christ\u2019s agenda, which is to reach people.\u201d<\/p>\n With ideological foes, Bream emphasized the importance of prioritizing their humanity, rather than seeing them as enemies.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you demonize [those you disagree with] one way or the other, you\u2019re not having conversations that would bring them to God\u2019s grace and love,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd really, that has to be more important than any other fight that we want to win during our day.\u201d<\/p>\n Her comments come as Americans are deeply divided in truly profound ways.<\/p>\n Data released last summer\u00a0by the Pew Research Center\u00a0found eight-in-10 adults in the U.S. believe Republicans and Democrats not only disagree on politics and policies, but also on basic facts. And\u00a0a 2024 study\u00a0by Johns Hopkins University showed nearly half of Americans view their political opponents as \u201cdownright evil.\u201d<\/p>\n Even as an anchor who spends countless hours poring over the news, Bream, author of the new book, \u201cNothing Is Impossible With God,\u201d said it\u2019s important to find balance \u2014 and prioritize time in prayer.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody needs a palate cleanse,\u00a0a little bit of a break sometimes,\u201d she said. \u201cBut, you know, for me, the truth is, I have to start my day in the Word, in prayer.\u201d<\/p>\n Bream continued, \u201cI just have to put my armor on, because we don\u2019t know what the day is going to bring, personally or professionally. So for me \u2026 I relish that time in the morning \u2014 if I can have just quiet time and just sit there and try to hear the Lord\u2019s voice.\u201d<\/p>\n The Fox News host explained the Bible \u201cis full of truth and of guidance and of wisdom\u201d and \u201cgives perspective to the day.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to her career, Bream has been through a profound medical trauma so painful it left her wanting \u201cto not wake up again.\u201d She was diagnosed with an incurable genetic disorder called Map-Dot-Fingerprint Dystrophy, a chronic disease that causes recurrent corneal erosions.<\/p>\n Bream said she had to learn to trust in God\u2019s provision and presence, even when she didn\u2019t understand her pain and suffering.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat He did give me is a promise as I was sobbing in my car one day, hearing Him say to me, not audibly, but unmistakably in my spirit, \u2018I\u2019ll be with you. I will be with you,’\u201d she said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s been enough.\u201d<\/p>\n At another point, Bream said, \u201cHe knows what He\u2019s doing. We have to trust that He\u2019s a good God. And He\u2019s walked me through this.
