For who can remain innocent after attacking the LORD\u2019s anointed one? Surely the LORD will strike Saul down someday, or he will die in battle or of old age. But the LORD forbid that I should kill the one he has anointed! But I\u2019ll tell you what\u2013we\u2019ll take his spear and his jug of water and then get out of here!\u201d\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Interesting\u2026 in First Samuel 28 Saul bans mediums \u2013 wise \u2013 and then becomes desperate for one \u2013 unwise\u2026\u00a0 The medium seems to get quite freaked out that she has called up Samuel.\u00a0 Commentaries suggest that she is used to calling up satanic \/ demonic forces.\u00a0 She (possibly) connected to Samuel somehow here and was freaked out by it.\u00a0 And Samuel tells Saul exactly what he probably knows in his heart.\u00a0 God has left him \u2013 a long time ago \u2013 because of his disobedience.\u00a0 Consulting a medium is just one more disobedient act in a string of them.\u00a0 I pray that no one reading this consults mediums or does tarot cards or gets into palm readings or any of that garbage.\u00a0 It is spiritually dangerous and risky to get into any of that.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I know that things like \u201ctarot card reading parties\u201d are somewhat popular today.\u00a0 I have been invited to them and have not gone \u2013 and told the hosts why I was not attending.\u00a0 Please avoid this spiritually risky stuff.\u00a0 It is no joke dangerous.\u00a0 Below is a painting by Benjamin West from the year 1777 titled \u201cSaul and the Witch of Endor\u201d:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">We finish the book of First Samuel today!\u00a0 Second Samuel is up tomorrow!\u00a0 First Samuel chapter 29 verse 8 read a bit strange to me: <em>\u201c\u201dWhat have I done to deserve this treatment?\u201d David demanded. \u201cWhy can\u2019t I fight the enemies of my lord, the king?\u201d\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 It seemed odd, at first read, that David would say this to King Achish of the Philistines.\u00a0 Commentaries suggest that David may have purposefully made an ambiguous statement here, such that Achish (and maybe us) would think he was referring to Achish \u2013 when perhaps he was referring to God or Saul as David\u2019s \u201clord, the king.\u201d\u00a0 With David\u2019s madman acting and wisdom, this ambiguous type statement with another meaning would not be surprising\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Bible.org\u2019s commentary on today\u2019s First Samuel readings titled <strong>\u201cThe Second Time Around\u201d<\/strong> is <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">at this link<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">.\u00a0 Commentary titled<strong> \u201cOne Step Forward, and Two Backward\u201d<\/strong> is <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">at this link<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"> and commentary titled<strong> \u201cFinding God\u2019s Will, Any \u201cWitch\u201d Way You Can\u201d<\/strong> is <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">at this link<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Psalm 56 verse 10 makes a One Year Bible blogger quite happy \ud83d\ude42 <em>\u201cO God, I praise your word.
