Samuel Ronan, whose case Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose referred to as “political transgenderism,” attempted to run in a Republican primary for Ohio’s 15th Congressional District in the 2026 cycle.

His candidacy against incumbent GOP Rep. Mike Carey required him to sign a sworn declaration of candidacy under penalty of election falsification affirming he was a member of the Republican Party and intended to support its principles.

…

However, Ronan faced a formal protest from a Republican voter who argued he was not a bona fide Republican. Evidence included Ronan’s past public statements urging “leftists” or Democrats to “infiltrate Republican spaces,” “primary them,” and run as Republicans in “deep red districts” to “get a foot in the door.”

Ultimately, the courts shut down Ronan’s political transgenderism. After a federal judge ruled he had falsely declared his party affiliation, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene, effectively keeping him off the ballot. This decision reinforces the principle that elections must be conducted with integrity and honesty, not manipulation or strategic deception.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose warned that this tactic may spread to other states, urging voters to remain vigilant. While party shifts can happen legitimately—as seen with figures like Donald Trump and Ronald Reagan—this case was viewed as a calculated attempt to mislead voters rather than a genuine change of conviction.

Similar situations have emerged elsewhere. In North Carolina, candidate Kate Barr openly admitted to being a “fake Republican,” acknowledging she entered the GOP primary not out of shared values, but as a strategic effort to gain access to a seat in a heavily Republican district. These cases highlight a broader strategy that critics say undermines trust in the electoral process.

This trend raises serious questions about transparency, honesty, and the integrity of elections. When candidates openly seek to deceive voters about their beliefs and affiliations, it erodes confidence in the system and weakens the foundation of representative government.

This is a moment to pray for truth to prevail in our elections. As these cases unfold, believers are called to pray for discernment among voters and accountability for those who seek to lead. Let’s pray that truth, honesty, and righteousness would define our elections and our leaders!

Share your prayers for integrity in our elections below.

(Excerpt from Just the News.
