A small sampling of the list includes the American Humanist Association, Democratic Socialists of America (many chapters from around the U.S.), Black Voters Matter, Christians Against Trump, Climate Defenders, Defrost ICE, Indivisible, Rise Up for Justice, Students for a Progressive Society, and an abundance of “reproductive justice” organizations.

The Communist Party USA emphasizes, “This May Day is important, but it is also one protest in a season of actions heading toward the 2026 midterm elections. Organizers argue—and rightly so—that, in addition to marching, other tactics are necessary to protect U.S. democracy and to counter the Trump dictatorial onslaught. Tactics can include demonstrative, nonviolent shows of force. Indeed, all the tools in the peaceful toolbox must be employed in the fight against the MAGA right.”

According to May Day Strong, they expect over 3,500 actions nationwide, which can include “walking out” of work or school to attend a rally, or simply refusing to shop. The initiative itself is anchored by at least 500 labor and community organizations.

NEA Spearheads Protests

The education sector is being specifically targeted for May Day participation. A statement reads, “Principals may exercise their existing authority to provide students the opportunity to participate in events and field trips, including civic engagement activities on May 1 during the school day.”

The History of May Day

It should be noted that May Day was one of the most important secular holidays in the former Soviet Union, as well as other communist nations. Its origins go back to 1889, when an “international federation of socialist groups and trade unions designated May 1 as a day in support of workers.” At that time, there was a need to protect laborers from excessively long workdays, which could range from 10 to 18 hours. As a result, the eight-hour workday was born, but it quickly morphed into a battle cry against all things capitalism. May Day became labeled as International Workers’ Solidarity, or International Workers’ Day. Communist and socialist regimes claimed the holiday as a time to celebrate “collective strength” and “the power of the worker.”

The Library of Congress features documents and other materials explaining how socialist/communist leaders used May Day to promote their agenda. One example includes a “notebook for propagandists with recommended talking points on how to conduct conversations about May Day with workers.” The May Day orders of celebration, issued by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin during World War 2, are also part of this collection.

Elaborate parades, shows of military might, and anti-capitalism themes permeated the celebration of May Day during the Cold War. The former president of Cuba, Fidel Castro, used the holiday as a symbol of resistance to U.S. influence. North Korea and China still promote elaborate May Day festivities to reinforce loyalty to their regimes and encourage the devotion of their workers.

May Day’s Connection to the Occult

May Day’s political connections are unnerving, but its spiritual ties are even more unsettling. In fact, there’s a disturbing intersectionality between witchcraft, paganism, and the radical Left’s goals.

For background, the holiday’s origin goes all the way back to the ancient rituals of the Celts, who called it Beltane. These pagan worshipers revered nature, fertility, and the changing seasons. On Beltane, it was believed that the boundaries between the natural and the supernatural became thinner. Consequently, devotees appealed to spiritual entities in the unseen realm, hoping for blessings and protection over their crops, livestock, and homes. Ritual fires burned as partakers danced around elaborately decorated Maypoles. In some communities, sexual license and disorderly conduct prevailed. Rebelliousness summoned the spirits of nature, and celebrants were eager to receive favor and power.

The traditions of Beltane have changed over time, but today, Wiccans, witches, and pagans alike observe May 1 as a major Sabbath. In Wicca, Beltane marks the beginning of the summer season, while Samhain (Halloween) marks the winter. Considered a “power point” and a “time of “amplified energy,” this holiday is embraced by those who want to cast spells, empower themselves, or harness the power of the spirits.

Asherah Poles in our Nation

It’s no secret that pagan communities, especially practicing Wiccans and witches/warlocks, do not align themselves with conservatism or biblical principles. They prize reproductive rights, while ignoring the plight of innocent babies murdered in abortions. They decry the necessity of Immigration, Customs, and Enforcement (ICE), but turn a blind eye to the illegal trafficking of children that results from open borders. Their solidarity is with the LGBTQ community, but this hearkens back to their religious code, “Do as thou wilt.” This year’s celebrations of May Day among witches and pagan followers will be bigger than ever. The thirst for “revolution” is growing, and many are seeking power from the dark realm.

Sadly, those who choose to participate in the May Day protests, whether as socialists, “workers,” or pagans, are aligning with the same false gods that permeated biblical times. May Day worshipers dance around a Maypole for prosperity and divine favor, but the ancient Israelites erected Asherah poles for the same reasons. The Canaanite goddess Asherah, as well as her counterpart Baal, were honored with sacrifices and incense. Despite God’s explicit prohibitions against these idolatrous practices (Deuteronomy 16:21), the people did it anyway, thus drawing their loyalty and hearts away from God.

The truth is that there are many deceived people in our nation. Romans 1:18-25 states the crux of the problem.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore, God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever!

Suppression of the Truth

From these verses, we understand that the truth is being suppressed by those who do not honor and revere God. We know this is happening today as we see biblical truth being viciously denied. Those who suppress the truth think they are “humanitarian, wise, and progressive,” but the Bible says that they have been given over to the lusts of their hearts. They have exchanged the truth for a lie and, as a result, they worship manmade idols and agendas, rather than the One True God.

It’s Time to Pray

Intercessors, we can throw our hands up, or we can prostrate ourselves and pray. As these May Day protests approach, we can prepare the ground for revival by lifting up those who are trapped in the pits of deception. It’s possible that a protest could be happening near your neighborhood or in your city. Ask the Lord how you can respond and pray. Also, since the theme of these protests is No Work, No School, No Shopping, why don’t we do the opposite? Let’s work hard, encourage school attendance, and perhaps do our shopping on that day!

Lord Jesus, the Asherah poles of ancient Israel have returned, but we don’t want them here. We know that our nation cannot thrive under idolatry and rebellion. We ask for a spirit of repentance to come upon those who participate in these protests. We also pray that the plans of the enemy for “economic disruption” will backfire, and instead, blessing and revival will be poured out on our nation. Jesus, You are the only One who can change the hearts of those who are deceived, but let us be Your hands and feet in this confused, dark world.
