{"id":28118,"date":"2026-05-04T08:09:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T08:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=28118"},"modified":"2026-05-04T08:09:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T08:09:52","slug":"may-4th-chronological-bible-readings-chronological-bible-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblelon.com\/?p=28118","title":{"rendered":"May 4th Chronological Bible Readings \u2013 Chronological Bible Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong>1 Chronicles 26:1-28:21<\/strong><\/span><br \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">~ Click here to read today\u2019s Scripture on Bible Gateway ~<\/span><\/em><br \/><span style=\"color: black\"><em>~ Listen to today\u2019s Scripture with <\/em><em>The ESV Bible<\/em><\/span> ~<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">It is interesting to read about the various gatekeepers, treasurers, officials, military commanders and leaders in today\u2019s First Chronicle readings!\u00a0 In some ways it is sad to read about how well organized things were \u2013 knowing that the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple and the exile to Babylon is coming up.\u00a0 All of this organization will be destroyed.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because of sin.\u00a0 Sin destroys.\u00a0 Sin kills.\u00a0 So sad.\u00a0 It is true that the lineage from Abraham to Judah to David will of course continue through to Jesus and now to us as spiritual descendants.\u00a0 But, the nation of Israel at this time of First Chronicles, with all of it\u2019s great organization, will later fall because the leaders and people will turn their backs on God in sin.\u00a0 In disobedience.\u00a0 Is there a lesson for us in this today?\u00a0 Do you see the dangers of sin?\u00a0 Of how it can destroy everything you hold dear?\u00a0 Please \u2013 flee from sin.\u00a0 Jesus can set you free from the bondage of sin.\u00a0 Don\u2019t lose everything you hold dear to something as stupid as sin.\u00a0 Sin will sell you lies and leave you with nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\">Our readings today set the transition scene nicely in First Chronicles 28 verses 1 &amp; 2: <em>\u201cDavid summoned all his officials to Jerusalem\u2013the leaders of the tribes, the commanders of the twelve army divisions, the other generals and captains, the overseers of the royal property and livestock, the palace officials, the mighty men, and all the other warriors in the kingdom. David rose and stood before them and addressed them as follows: \u201cMy brothers and my people!\u201d\u201d\u00a0 <\/em>One thing that really stood out to me in David\u2019s address to his officials today was his absolute passion for God\u2019s Temple!\u00a0 David was so passionate about making sure the Temple was prepared for his son Solomon to build it.\u00a0 Yes, true, God gave David the plans for the Temple. \ud83d\ude42 But\u2026 what about us in our lives today\u2026 does God give us any \u201cplans\u201d for our lives today?\u00a0 What about the Bible?\u00a0 Is the Bible a \u201cplan\u201d for our lives today that we should follow?\u00a0 Below is an image from today\u2019s readings of David addressing his officials:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.2em\"><strong>Worship Video:<\/strong> Today\u2019s readings 1 Chronicles reminded me of the fantastic song \u201cSavior Please\u201d by Josh Wilson.
