A powerful movement is afoot to encourage people worldwide to be baptized.<\/p>\n
Mark Francey, pastor of Oceans Church in California, is the brainchild behind Baptize the World, an effort to rally people globally to publicly profess their faith in Jesus. Francey is inviting faith communities\u00a0to join\u00a0other \u201cchurches around the world baptizing as one on Pentecost Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n

The result was Francey creating Baptize SoCal, a 2023 event at Pirate\u2019s Cove, the location of the historic Jesus people movement captured in the film \u201cJesus Revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n Baptize SoCal yielded 4,166 baptisms and made national headlines \u2014 but that was just the beginning. Francey then moved on to do Baptize California the next year, which saw 6,201 baptisms. And, in 2025, Baptize America \u2014 a broader effort \u2014 yielded 27,858 immersions.<\/p>\n This year, Francey has his sights set much broader with Baptize the World, an event taking place on May 24. He told CBN News about the three-year journey that led to this moment.<\/p>\n \u201cIt [is] an initiative that we started here in Southern California,\u201d Francey said. \u201cWe started \u2026 36 months ago, and we felt \u2026 the Lord put it on our hearts that, if He could unite the church of Southern California, he could do it in California \u2014 and if He could do it in all of California, He could do it in America, and if it could happen in America, we believe that God could do it in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n The preacher said he\u2019s \u201csuper excited\u201d to see what God does through the effort \u2014 one he believes was rooted in a supernatural encounter with the Lord.<\/p>\n \u201cOur church was three years old when he gave me this \u2026 open vision,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve only had one like it my whole life. But I just wrote down what I saw, and after I tried to talk God out of it, and He won the argument.\u201d<\/p>\n Francey started writing down what he saw \u2014 a push for him to create a baptism movement \u2014 and the rest is history. He\u2019s hoping Baptize the World will have a major impact across the globe.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re hoping that they would see some of the greatest unity across denominational barriers that we\u2019ve witnessed maybe in history \u2026 certainly recent history,\u201d Francey said. \u201cIn all nations, we\u2019re believing that God\u2019s going to continue to unite the world around something that we all believe and we all agree on as Christians \u2014 the mandate in Matthew 28 is to go in, not to some of the world, but to all the world, and it\u2019s very clear to make disciples, and baptism was kind of front and center in that mandate.\u201d<\/p>\n Already, Baptize the World is seeing people and churches in nations far and wide signing up to take part. Tens of thousands of people have been immersed as a result of Francey\u2019s obedience.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s definitely humbling,\u201d he said of the massive impact.<\/p>\n On May 24, Francey will host a live broadcast event at the Museum of the Bible, which will include footage from baptisms all over the world.
