Pastor Jentezen Franklin is on a transformational mission to explore the power of prayer \u2014 and it comes at a time of chaos and uncertainty in American culture and across the globe.<\/p>\n
Franklin, who has a new book, \u201cThe Power of Short Prayers,\u201d said he released the project because he believes a lot of people \u201cdon\u2019t understand what prayer is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cJesus made a comment in Matthew 7, verse 6 \u2014 He said, \u2018Don\u2019t pray like the Pharisees pray, because they think because of their many words that they will be heard,’\u201d he said. \u201cAnd so He was saying that longer prayers, that\u2019s not what I\u2019m looking for. I\u2019m looking for your heart. I want to hear your heart.\u201d<\/p>\n
Franklin continued, \u201cThe greatest miracles in the New Testament happen and the Old Testament when people simply prayed short prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n
These prayers, he said, came with \u201cgreat purpose, great passion, great urgency,\u201d elements the preacher believes are important to the success of these invocations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the urgency behind a prayer and the faith connected to it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not how long you pray, it\u2019s how short you believe, and if you pray and believe the power of short prayers. \u2026 People feel like if they don\u2019t pray an hour a day, they\u2019ve really failed the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n
So, Franklin focuses on short prayers from the Bible and encourages people to pray them over their families \u2014 their children, marriages, businesses, and other elements. When people start with these shorter prayers, Franklin said they eventually graduate to longer ones as they \u201cpray continually.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his own journey, the preacher has seen how God has worked through his prayers for his family, ministry, and other life issues. Franklin believes prayer isn\u2019t only a fixture to heal and help individual lives, but one that can also help our culture.<\/p>\n
And \u201cThe Power of Short Prayers\u201d comes at a time when culture is experiencing what many believe to be a spiritual renewal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think there is a revival that is taking place,\u201d Franklin said. \u201cWe certainly have seen it at our ministry and at our church.\u201d<\/p>\n
