Fahima Egeh Mahamud was charged Wednesday with wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States, according to court documents.\n<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Mahamud was indicted for her alleged role in the initial $250 million \u201cFeeding Our Future\u201d scheme. Prosecutors allege she enrolled Future Leaders Early Learning \u2014 a Minneapolis daycare where she served as CEO \u2014 into the federal child nutrition program, falsely claiming to serve thousands of meals at her childcare center.\n<\/p>\n

In addition to the earlier allegations, prosecutors now accuse Mahamud of carrying out a second fraud scheme involving Minnesota\u2019s Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), which helps low-income families pay for daycare services. Federal authorities say she submitted more than 13,000 fraudulent reimbursement claims totaling approximately $4.6 million between 2022 and 2025.\n<\/p>\n

Investigators allege Mahamud falsely certified that families had paid required co-payments in order to qualify for federal reimbursements. According to prosecutors, those certifications were a critical condition for receiving taxpayer funds.\n<\/p>\n
