Chip Roy\u00a0is pushing to repeal a law that has resulted in the imprisonment of pro-life protesters, arguing the legislation could be used to unfairly target Americans in the future.\n<\/p>\n<h4>Join the community of Monthly Ministry Partners and help IFA provide prayer resources to other intercessors.<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a Tuesday letter to\u00a0Speaker of the House Mike Johnson,\u00a0R-La., Roy called for a floor vote on his bill, the FACE Act Repeal Act, which the House Judiciary Committee has already advanced.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI respectfully urge House leadership to act without delay by bringing [my bill] to the House floor for a full vote, ensuring every Member has the opportunity to consider repeal and help guard against future misuse of federal law,\u201d Roy writes in his letter.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act\u00a0is a 1994 law prohibiting making it more difficult for women to enter an abortion clinic.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law was passed with bipartisan support, as it also prohibits preventing people from observing their religion at places of worship.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, historically, the Justice Department has more often targeted pro-life protesters than those disrupting religious services under the law, with President Joe Biden\u2019s DOJ implementing it more aggressively than any prior administration.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shortly after his inauguration,\u00a0President Donald Trump\u00a0pardoned 23 pro-life activists prosecuted under the law, including an 89-year-old woman and a Franciscan friar.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roy identifies a new DOJ report \u201cdetailing the misuse\u201d of the law to \u201ctarget peaceful pro-life Americans\u201d as a reason to seek its repeal.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe report outlines a disturbing pattern of selective targeting, troubling coordination between federal prosecutors and radical abortion advocacy organizations, and potential violations of basic due process protections,\u201d Roy writes.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roy, who has served in Congress since 2016, ran for Texas Attorney General, but lost his\u00a0bid for the Republican nomination to Mayes Middleton\u00a0in the runoff primary in May.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The House Freedom Caucus member chairs the Judiciary Committee\u2019s Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roy is also the House author of\u00a0the SAVE America Act,\u00a0legislation that would require photo identification and proof of citizenship in federal elections.\n<\/p>\n<h4>Share this article and pray that lawmakers will protect both unborn life and the constitutional rights of Americans.<\/h4>\n<p><em>This article was originally published at The Daily Signal.
