Two states have proclaimed June as \u201cFidelity Month\u201d while many other states, along with much of corporate America and American culture, recognize LGBT pride month.\n<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0proclamation\u00a0signed last week, Arkansas Republican Gov. Sarah Sanders declared June 2026 as \u201cFidelity Month,\u201d highlighting the role of faith in the founding of the United States and Arkansas.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cCultivating fidelity to God, family, community, and country contributes to human flourishing and supports a healthy, stable, well-ordered society,\u201d she proclaimed.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cPractices that encourage virtue, commitment, responsibility, and shared moral foundations strengthen both individuals and their communities,\u201d she wrote. \u201cFidelity Month provides an opportunity for residents to reflect on and renew commitments to these shared values and institutions.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Utah Republican Gov. Spencer Cox also issued a\u00a0proclamation\u00a0recognizing Fidelity Month. The proclamation expresses concern with recent opinion polling finding that support for traditional values among Americans \u201chas significantly declined.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\u201cA majority of Americans no longer esteem values like faith, family, patriotism, or community involvement,\u201d Cox\u2019s proclamation stresses, defining fidelity as \u201cdedication to faith, family, and country.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThe survival of the United States depends upon the shared bonds of faith, family, and patriotism,\u201d he added. \u201cIt is fitting to observe one month each year to rededicate the United States to its core values.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Robert P. George, a conservative Christian scholar and the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University,\u00a0established Fidelity Month\u00a0after coming across a 2023\u00a0Wall Street Journal poll\u00a0revealing what he described as \u201ca precipitous decline in our fellow Americans\u2019 belief in the importance of such values as patriotism, religion, family, and community \u2014 the values that used to unite Americans despite our many differences.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

George said Fidelity Month is an effort to \u201crestore the faith of our people and begin to heal the dreadful division\u201d in the U.S.\n<\/p>\n

On Fidelity Month\u2019s official website, George describes it as a \u201cgrassroots movement\u201d that is \u201cdedicated to the importance of fidelity to God, spouses and families, and our country and communities.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

While Arkansas and Utah are the only states that have explicitly recognized Fidelity Month, other states are also attempting to differentiate themselves from the cultural push to promote LGBT pride month. In a\u00a0proclamation\u00a0signed Friday, Alabama Republican Gov. Kay Ivey declared June as \u201cStrong Families Month.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0proclamation\u00a0issued Monday, Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Braun recognized June as Nuclear Family Month. Indiana\u2019s move comes after Tennessee announced earlier this year that it would recognize June as Nuclear Family Month. A\u00a0resolution\u00a0approved by the Republican-controlled Tennessee Legislature and signed into law by Republican Gov. Bill Lee in April also recognizes June as Nuclear Family Month.\n<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Democratic governors of Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island and Wisconsin have all issued proclamations recognizing LGBT pride month.\n<\/p>\n
