Ecclesiastes chapter 12 verse 13 is the key verse in this entire book!\u00a0 \u201cHere is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is the duty of every person.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 Take a moment to meditate on this verse.\u00a0 Do you agree with this teaching?\u00a0 Do you fear God?\u00a0 What does it mean to fear God?\u00a0 (Bible.org has a good overview of fearing God <\/span>at this link<\/span> \u2013 scroll down on that page to the commentary on verses 11-22)\u00a0 Are you obedient to God\u2019s commands?\u00a0 Do you believe this is your duty?<\/span>

King Rehoboam\u2019s bad decision making in 1 Kings 12 is an excellent example of why we should respect our elders\u2026\u00a0 Rehoboam blew off the advice of his elders and instead heeded the foolish advice of the young men around him.\u00a0 And then the kingdom was divided.\u00a0 \u00a0Of course, this turn of events was the will of God.\u00a0 But, still, a good example I think of why we should listen to and respect our elders\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, Jeroboam didn\u2019t last very long before worshipping other gods!\u00a0 Keep in mind Jeroboam\u2019s name as we continue to read through the book of Kings \u2013 you will continue to hear about \u201cJeroboam\u2019s sin\u201d and \u201cthe sin Jeroboam caused Israel to commit\u201d many times in our upcoming readings \u2013 even long after he is dead.\u00a0 Not a legacy one would want to leave behind\u2026\u00a0 Here is an image of Jeroboam leading the Israelites into the sin of worshiping a golden calf:<\/span><\/p>\n
