<\/p>\n
2 Kings 13:1-11; 2 Kings 12:17-21; 2 Chronicles 24:23-27; 2 Kings 13:14-25<\/strong><\/span> Today we read about the passing of the prophet Elisha!\u00a0 I am sad that our readings of Elijah and Elisha are now behind us. I don\u2019t know what it was about these 2 prophets, but I loved them.\u00a0 Sure, they were a bit rough and gruff at times, but also very tender.\u00a0 They\u2019d send fire down from heaven to kill the prophets of Baal and bears from the trees to kill mockers, but then they\u2019d care for widows.\u00a0 I\u2019m wondering if in our lives today we should be a mix of rough & gruff at times, but also very tender?\u00a0 Should we be rough and gruff toward those that are modern day \u201cprophets of Baal\u201d and tender toward those who need God?\u00a0 I have to confess, I\u2019m rarely rough and gruff toward anyone \u2013 well, okay, maybe myself!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Let me know your thoughts in the Comments below if you think rough and gruff should be in our personality mix at all today?\u00a0 Before Elisha passes he does give one final prophecy to King Joash about beating the Arameans 3 times, just after 2 Kings 13 verses 16 & 17: \u201cThen Elisha told the king of Israel to put his hand on the bow, and Elisha laid his own hands on the king\u2019s hands. Then he commanded, \u201cOpen that eastern window,\u201d and he opened it. Then he said, \u201cShoot!\u201d So he did.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Then we read about Elisha\u2019s passing.\u00a0 Even once Elisha passes on, his bones still give life!\u00a0 I think this is simply because of the life-giving power of God whom Elisha represented during his life.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t the bones themselves that gave life.\u00a0 It was God. Verses 20 & 21 tell us:\u00a0 \u201cThen Elisha died and was buried.\u00a0 Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring. Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the body they were burying into the tomb of Elisha.
